I couldn’t be happier to announce the launch of my new website.

As a career and confidence coach, I get to work with amazing women, supporting them to build a life and career they love.

I once stood where many women might stand today - dreaming of a career that filled me with joy. I knew in my heart what I wanted, but it seemed out of reach with too many hurdles in my way.

I was determined to turn my dreams into reality, so here we are – welcome to the new StepUpStepIn look.

I’d love to hear your feedback, so please look around.

Looking forward to our upcoming sessions and all the positive impact we’ll create together!

The happy soul that is my 8-month-old grandson (aka Archie “Smiley-Head” McGinn) has brought pure joy into my life over the last week while he’s been here with us in Portugal.

He reminded me that a smile and giggle can have such a positive impact on your mood and your day.

He put us all in great mood all day every day – what a gift to give!

Smile and the world smiles back at you.

It was a weird morning, I woke up thinking, “What on earth am I doing, what’s it all about?”.

I questioned everything - what I’m doing, how I'm doing it and of course THE WHY (for those who know me and have worked with me, its all about the WHY!).

This very same morning I got a message from my first ever client from when I started StepUpStepIn.

She reached out to tell me that, for the first time in her life, she had connected her belly, her heart and her head brains, to make a decision around a new organisation she wanted to go work for.

Connecting and listening to her three brains made it feel so right for her and an easy decision to make.

Seemingly, my voice was in her head as she made this defining decision for her career. This really did make me smile and gave me the kick up the a** that I needed. This WhatsApp message brought me straight back to my WHY.

It makes me so happy to hear from past clients of their continuous successes and how they are defining their career.

The coaching ends but the relationship you build never end.

Of the 4 Energies (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual), the one I’ve been spending time on over the last couple of weeks is my Physical. It's made up of 4 different areas: Sleep, Nourishment, Movement and Restoration.

I took myself of on my annual trip to Cloona Health Retreat in the West of Ireland for my health retreat to work on all 4 elements of my Physical Energy. A technology (Yes no phone and no Instagram!) and food detox set in beautiful nature overlooking Clew Bay and the wild Atlantic Ocean.

This August was my 11th year at the retreat, and I just got back feeling like a new woman, full of vigor, clarity of thought and an overwhelming gratitude for nature, the sea, and Dara and his team for giving me the opportunity, safe space and time to restore.

I left the retreat with a whole host of benefits ranging from clarity, increased physical and mental energy, heightened creativity, great skin, new friends and a real feeling of self-discovery.

Any of the clouds that fogged my brain, all of the worries that sat on my shoulders miraculously lift and what seemed a real burden is suddenly transformed to something small and insignificant. I feel ready to face the world again with abounding energy: re-charged, re-energised and revitalized.

Awareness is key to making changes. If you can build healthy boundaries around sleep, nourishment, movement and giving yourself permission to restore you are giving yourself a true gift.

Last week I got to spend the morning with an amazing bunch of graduates starting out their career in the Central Bank of Ireland.

We spent time looking at the tools and techniques needed to create a great impression, communicate with power and to connect and build trust as they grow their careers within the Central Bank.

Thank you to Annette Byrne and Sharyn Rowat for the opportunity to be part of the Graduate Networking Event.

A couple of years ago I met my partner who is always up for trying new sports - the more extreme, the better.

So, when I told him that for my birthday, I would like to explore the island of Porquerolles, he came up with the idea of exploring it... on a bike!

Lets be honest here, its a very long time since I’ve been on two wheels.

All I could hear inside my head was:

'It’s way too steep.'
'It’s too hard.'
'I can’t do it.'
'I don’t want to do it.'
'I don’t know how to use an electric bike.'

The fear was real but I knew I had to say yes.

The first few minutes were pretty flat to begin with.

But when we hit a steep hill, I got off and walked with the bike. I not only walked up the hill, I proceeded to walk down it too.

I panted and pushed and fought my way up and down red-faced and sweating while my lovely man waited patiently for me and encouraged me to go on the bike, which was electric (it does all the work!).

Eventually, I let go of fear and I told myself that I can do it. So, I let myself go down a very steep valley to my partner’s sheer shock.

The joy and exhilaration of being on a bike, flying down a hill, brought me back to childhood. The thought of believing I can achieve this was empowering.

I’m amazed by what I can do but I’m even more inspired by how this has all come about because I made a decision to let go of fear and just do it.

Everything we do starts with a thought and when I thought I couldn’t, I didn’t and when I thought I could, I started to be able to.

To put it simply, Imposter Syndrome is the experience of feeling like a phony, and like you don't belong where you are.

It is estimated that 70% of people will experience at least one episode of this phenomenon in their lives.

If you often find yourself feeling like you are a fraud or an imposter, it may be helpful to talk to a coach. The negative thinking, self-doubt, and self-sabotage can have an effect on many areas of your life, stopping you from moving forward.

When we think about gender equality, it’s understood there’s a lot of work to be done.

Only eight of the CEOs in the top 100 UK companies are women.

Research shows that women are less likely to apply for positions that are more senior than their current position.

Is it because women are conditioned to feel less entitled than men?

, an artificial intelligence startup, recently surveyed 10 top tech companies and pulled examples of distinct language that they use in more than 25,000 job posts.

Certain phrases resulted in a higher proportion of applications from men.

Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead.

Imagine how much better it would be if women didn’t find themselves in this situation in the first place. Imagine a world that’s diverse, equitable and inclusive.

Getting the language right in your organisation and creating the right environment so that there is no bias is the first step to attracting more women to senior positions.

Did you know you have three brains?

Yes we have three brains – our belly brain, our heart brain and our head brain. All three brains are connected and work like an orchestra with billions of neurons working across all three to produce a beautiful symphony.

When we connect all three brains together, it helps us make better and more informed decisions.

Connect with me at [email protected] to learn more about listening not only to your head but to your heart and belly.
