π If you think you're being supportive, but you're coming for the mothers, please just don't.
π Blame the system, blame the lack of lactation education that is required for HCP that are coming into contact with mothers from the beginning of their breastfeeding experience. Blame the lack of staffing. Blame the "here's some formula" answers from so many who should do better and should know better, but don't you dare come for the mothers. It is not their fault that the system is failing them and their babies.
πUntil you have physically held a mother up, who has collapsed in tears into your arms when she arrived at a Breastfeeding Group, because for the first time since her baby was born, she felt supported, listened to, looked after, and cared for, quite frankly, you don't know what you are talking about. These mothers matter, their experiences matter. Mothers saying they struggled to find support is not bullsh*t, your post is.
πMothers struggle to find breastfeeding supoort for many for lots of different reasons. They do not need your judgement, they need support. They need to feel held, looked after, listened to, allowed to speak their truth, allowed to have their valid concerns listened to and helped to figure out next steps if they need further support.
πI really don't know what this person was thinking when they made this post, but it certainly wasn't made with support in mind.
π Blaming mothers for the system failing them is not supporting them.
