Everyone talks about compound growth. But what does it actually mean? ๐Ÿค”

Simply put: your money earns money. That money then earns money too. Over time, this compound interest becomes a snowball, picking up size as it rolls. โ„๏ธ

The bit most people miss: time matters more than perfection.
Start investing at 25 with smaller contributions and decades to grow, or start at 40 needing much bigger contributions with less time to work. Same goal, very different outcome.

You don't need thousands. You don't need it perfect. You just need to start. ๐ŸŒฑ

Curious what starting early could look like for you? Let's talk. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

"I'm saving for a wedding next year, 15k sitting in my AIB current account. Any better options?"

Good question.

First things first: this money should not be invested. If you need it within the next year or two, it needs to stay well away from markets, full stop.

But it also shouldn't just sit earning nothing. There are comparison platforms that show you savings rates side by side (some currently around 3%), so you can put it somewhere that's actually working for you until the big day.

๐Ÿค” Here's something we've noticed over the years...

A lot of people have never heard of a Section 72 policy.

Not because it's complicated.

Not because it's brand new.

It's because estate planning is one of those financial conversations people often leave until "another day."

The thing is...

The earlier you understand your options, the more choices you usually have.

Estate planning isn't just about building wealth.

It's about helping protect what you've built for the people you care about.

๐Ÿ“… Here's something we notice quite a lot...

Most people don't ignore their pension on purpose.

Life just gets in the way.

Work gets busy.

Family comes first.

Before you know it, another year has gone by.

That's why we think a simple mid-year check is such a good habit.

You don't need to spend hours looking at it.

Sometimes, just knowing where your pension is, what you're contributing and whether it's still right for you is enough.

Small check-ups today can help avoid bigger surprises later.

When you hear "financial wellbeing", what's the first thing that comes to mind? For a lot of people, it's their salary. How much they earn, how much they have.

But we see it differently.
Financial wellbeing isn't about the number in your account. It's about how in control you feel.
๐Ÿก Understanding your mortgage
๐Ÿ“ˆ Knowing you're on track for retirement
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Having the right protection in place
๐Ÿ’ฐ Feeling confident about day to day finances

And it might be one of the most overlooked workplace topics out there. Because when employees feel that kind of confidence, it shows at work, in focus, in energy, and in how people show up each day.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Do you think financial wellbeing should be part of workplace conversations? Let us know in the comments below.

๐Ÿ’ผ Here's something we see all the time at Ask Paul...

โœ”๏ธPeople change jobs.
โœ”๏ธLife gets busy.
โœ”๏ธYears pass.

And old pensions get forgotten about.

It's completely understandable.

But leaving pensions behind without reviewing them can mean you're missing an opportunity to simplify your retirement planning.

The first step isn't transferring anything.

It's simply knowing what you have and understanding your options.

Sometimes, a quick review is all it takes to get everything back on track.

Worked four or five jobs in the last decade? There's a good chance you've got a pension sitting with each one.

The natural instinct is to merge them all into one for the sake of tidiness. Worth pausing on that first though; a bigger pension pot doesn't always mean better options at retirement.

Sometimes it means fewer.

Small, low-value pots are usually fine to combine. Anything more substantial is worth getting properly reviewed before you touch it.
