As the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider with 100+ aircraft on 6 continents, our fleet migrates to different parts of the world at different times of the year to meet seasonal demand.

That means our AOCs and airlines share capacity to deliver solutions to our scheduled airline clients around the world. ✈️

At Avia Solutions Group, we use the peregrine falcon as a fitting symbol for this model, as falcons are remarkable long - distance travelers known for their speed, precision, and agility - qualities that echo the way our fleet moves to where demand is highest.

Some peregrine falcons travel up to 26,000 km during migration, covering vast distances as they move between regions in response to seasonal conditions.

Through our multi-AOC network, we operate on a similar frequency, moving our assets around the world and shifting capacity from regions entering a seasonal slowdown to markets experiencing peak demand.

This September will be host to Aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) Month at Avia Solutions Group. ✈️

As the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, MRO is a significantly important part of the wider aviation ecosystem that supports our airline businesses and customers.

Across the Group, maintenance capabilities ensure aircraft availability throughout the operational lifecycle from everyday line maintenance and AOG response to scheduled base maintenance, engine services, and component support.

That means MRO isn't simply what happens when an aircraft needs repair, but how we build resilience into aircraft operations.

Throughout September, we'll be looking behind the scenes at the companies, capabilities, and people across Avia Solutions Group that help keep fleets moving.

Did you know that Avia Solutions Group has placed its first direct aircraft order with Boeing? The deal includes 40 x firm 737-8 orders, with purchase rights for another 40. ✈️

Why 40 + 40?

As the world’s largest ACMI provider, our business is built around helping airlines access additional capacity when and where they need it.

Demand can change quickly - particularly during peak travel seasons - so growing access to modern, efficient aircraft is an important part of strengthening that flexibility for our customers.

What does it mean for the Group?

The 737-8s will support the continued development and modernisation of our airlines' fleets, while giving the Group additional capacity to serve customers across global markets. 🌍

The aircraft also offer greater fuel efficiency and the flexibility to operate across short- and medium-haul networks - both important considerations for ACMI operations.

When will we see them?

Deliveries of the 40 firm aircraft are scheduled to begin in 2030, with the committed aircraft expected to be delivered through 2031.

40 firm orders. 40 purchase rights.

One more step in building the future of our global ACMI fleet. 🚀

Across the global aviation industry, the pilot shortage is real. So why are so many newly qualified pilots still finding it difficult to secure their first airline role? ✈️

The answer is more complex than the headline numbers suggest.

While Boeing forecasts that commercial aviation will need 674,000 new pilots over the next two decades, today’s recruitment market is shaped by aircraft delivery delays, regional demand, fleet types, experience levels, and increasingly demanding airline selection criteria.

For aspiring First Officers, this means that earning a CPL (Commercial Pilot License) is an important milestone - but it is not the finish line.

Airlines are increasingly looking for candidates who can demonstrate not only technical flying skills, but also the competencies required to operate successfully in a modern multi-crew airline environment.

Stian Hajem Skaar, Head of Training at BAA Training, explains, “Ultimately, our goal isn't simply to graduate licensed pilots. It's to help them become pilots who are ready to succeed in an airline recruitment process, transition confidently into commercial operations, and ensure overall aviation safety and standards.” 👨🏻‍✈️

In our latest article, we explore why the long-term pilot shortage can exist alongside intense competition for entry-level First Officer positions, where demand is strongest today, and what aspiring pilots can do to stand out.
