Last night, AmCham was delighted to welcome our members to our annual President’s Reception. A huge thank you to IDA Ireland for hosting the event.

During the evening, AmCham was thrilled to present its Special Recognition Award to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment received by Secretary General Dr Orlaigh Quinn in recognition of their work to support Ireland’s pro-enterprise eco-system and the US-Ireland business relationship.

AmCham was also grateful to IDA Ireland who made a presentation to AmCham to recognise 60 years of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland.

At its Mid-West Dinner, AmCham was thrilled to present its prestigious Cáirdeas Award to local charity, Cliona's Foundation. Our attendees were also treated to a keynote address from our Guest of Honour, US Ambassador to Ireland, Claire Cronin.

At its Mid-West Conference, AmCham launched its factsheet, to highlight the attractiveness of the Mid-West region to US multinational companies. Thank you to all of our members who helped to make our Independence Day lunch such a great experience.

At the lunch, AmCham President Catherine Duffy made an address, speaking to the importance of independence and transatlantic unity.

“Exactly 60 years ago, President Kennedy delivered his Independence Day Address in Liberty Hall, Philadelphia – the place where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. President Kennedy that day called for transatlantic interdependence between the United States and Europe and he welcomed the emerging movement towards what became the European Union.”

On Thursday, 23 June, AmCham was in Galway for our West-North-West Conference and Dinner.

Our members were treated to insightful discussions at the conference and then to the well-deserved presentation of the AmCham Cairdeas Award to Pieta House North West during dinner.

At the conference, we launched our new our new one-pager, Why West-North-West, which details all of the fantastic reasons why the West-North-West region is an ideal location to invest.

Our West-North-West dinner was attended by Guest of Honour, Minister Hildegarde Naughton.

AmCham and The Royal Irish Academy on Monday announced the shortlisted companies for the 2022 US-Ireland Research Awards.

Now in their eighth year, the awards recognise excellence in research innovation, creation and invention by multinationals as well as SMEs, organisations, higher education institutions and research centres with links to the US multinational sector.

The awards are sponsored by BT Ireland and EY Ireland, and The Irish Times is the media partner.

The projects nominated for the 2022 US-Ireland Research and Innovation Awards range from Artificial Intelligence to Energy sustainability, Transforming the Future of Work, Neuromorphic Sensing, and much more.

Bank of America Europe, Boston Scientific, Xperi Corporation, The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies Of Johnson & Johnson, Maynooth University, Microsoft Ireland, Pfizer and stryker are among the companies shortlisted to compete for the top awards across three categories: Innovation in Sustainability; Innovation in Talent Development; and Innovation in Enabling Technology.

The winners of the 2022 US-Ireland Research Awards will be announced at the AmCham Annual Dinner and Innovation Awards event in the Clayton Hotel, Dublin 4 on 20 May 2022.
