The Government’s approval of a 79-cent National Minimum Wage increase - raising the statutory rate to €14.94 per hour -deals a heavy blow to small enterprises operating on razor-thin margins. Minimum wage has now surged 63.3% since 2016, and with 51% of SFA members citing rising costs as their main threat, these cumulative employment overheads directly risk business survival.

Despite this, SFA advocacy secured vital budget wins:
• Capital Gains Tax cut from 33% to 31% (first decrease since 2013)
• Employer PRSI threshold increased to €600 per week
• Enhanced Reporting Requirements shifted to monthly cycles to cut compliance costs
• Extended start-up, R&D, and energy supports

The have been officially launched by Awards Patron, Taoiseach, Micheál Martin. Now in its twenty third year, these awards celebrate the achievements, innovation, and excellence of small businesses in Ireland and recognise the vital contribution of the small business community to the Irish economy.

Small firms (employing less than 50 people) have until Friday, 23 October 2026 to enter. The Awards are FREE to enter and the prize package for all finalists is valued at €50,000.
