Thank you to everyone who joined us at III Forks, Dallas for our event yesterday! AI, Automation and Finance Transformation: From Hype to Impact, co-hosted with RSM.
Three highlights from yesterday's event:
1. Stop waiting for the report. Traditional reporting gives you what was built in advance. We explored how finance teams can use conversational intelligence to prompt their systems in plain English, such as "which suppliers invoiced above agreed PO prices?", and get back the data that matters right now, without the exports and Excel.
2. "We need to use AI" isn't a business case. Around 1 in 3 AI projects fail, usually from unclear goals, vendor-led hype, poor integration or no way to measure ROI. Start with a high-friction process, baseline its cost and time, check your data readiness and set a specific target. "Automate AP" is vague. "Save 8 hours a week on AP data entry and redeploy it to business partnering" is a plan.
3. Whether you scale, redeploy or reduce, the business case for implementing AI across finance should point to measurable outcomes. We shared our framework for success.
Thanks to James Kearns for hosting and leading the session, and to Kurt Meier for a strategy-first view on finance leadership in the age of ERP and AI.
