Leg 1: Dun Laoghaire to Dunmore East:
Our voyage to the enchanted island of Hy-Brasil will begin in Dun Laoghaire. The first leg will be from Dun Laoghaire to Dunmore East. After we leave DL we will set our heading south, passing through Dalkey Sound, and inside the Kish and Codling banks, leaving Bray and Greystones to starboard, with the lovely Wicklow mountains in the background.
We will pass between Wicklow Head and the India bank, and southwards between the Glassgorman and Arklow banks. We might stop in Arklow for a few hours rest, and to wait for the next south going tide. Then off again, depending on the time of day and sea state, we will decide whether to stay inside or go outside the Blackwater and Lucifer banks.
Next up will be Tuskar Rock, and around Carnsore Point. Then we will tack westwards towards the beautiful Saltee Islands, an area frequently alive with different species of dolphins. From there we will set our course for majestic Hook Head, across the Waterford estuary and into lovely Dunmore East.
This leg, spanning approximately 100 nautical miles, promises to be a 20 to 24-hour odyssey filled with the splendour of Ireland's east coast. We've still got two berths available for those yearning to join this extraordinary sea adventure. All I ask is a fair contribution to the Hy-Brasil fund, to ensure our journey is as enchanting as the legend we pursue.
