Great to serve on the Board of the The Asthma Society of Ireland and to see the wider community of clinicians, educators, funders, nurses and patients coming together with the team to celebrate where we've come from and to hear about the challenges ahead.

Was so wonderful to meet the patient ambassadors who bravely shared their stories of how they not only survived an asthma attack, but are now thriving with good self management, a can-do attitude and support from the Asthma Society.

Delighted also to see a key pillar of our fundraising strategy around "Clean Air" being brought to life - our 'Planting Change Campaign'. Trees are the lungs of the earth and by planting trees we are investing in clean air, not just for today, but for the future. You can buy a tree in memory of someone or indeed plant trees as a corporate team building exercise - lots of ways to engage! www.asthma.ie

Really enjoyed on Friday - so many amazing events highlighting the community and voluntary sector and the campaign.

We visited the Royal Irish Academy of Music and were treated to a beautiful piano recital. The highlight was being part of a Cézanne painting projected onto the walls of the National Gallery of Ireland.

Great to see the diversity of styles in the portraits of great Irish people from Sinead, Bono and inspirational social activists such as Catherine Corless and Sr. Stan, rightly honoured for their contribution to society. Enjoyed the aptly titled 'It only took a century' exhibition, featuring some prominent female artists.

It reminded me of the joy of finding the space to appreciate the beauty of art and culture and that I need to do this more often.

On last Saturday, was great to take part in An Taisce National Spring Clean with my family at .

Every day should be Earth Day, when we care about nature, pollution and living our lives more sustainably. Lauren 'cleaned up' on the clean up too! Great to see what a small community can achieve when united behind a single mission.

So delighted to be invited by Edel O'Malley, CEO of Basis.point, to join the panel discussion with Aisling Boland, Senior ESG Consultant AIB and Laura Trimble, CEO HSBCIreland, moderated by Ronnie Griffin, HSBC to talk about social sustainability and the 'S in ESG'. It was inspiring to see the impact that the Irish Funds Industry Association and the wider financial industry are making on young people across the many educational programs they invest in - Foróige Archways DCUChangeMakers Business in the Community to name a few.

I spoke about how we need to move forward as a collective and collaborate together to achieve the sustainable development goals. Sustainability is in the DNA of the 'for impact' sector and the focus on ESG offers huge opportunities to invest in social, economic, and environmental impact. Now is the time to be bold and ambitious about impact and charities and social enterprises need to lean into the power of their purpose and expertise in this area.

I founded The Purpose Edge to inspire us all to be purpose catalysts and start to have conversations that spark action and create impact. Whether you're working in a company, a social enterprise, a charity, a think-tank or a public sector organisation or are still in school and see a better way of doing things for our society and our planet - we are all able to use our voice to effect positive change. If you want to articulate your purpose and truly amplify your ambition for impact, reach out for a chat.

We don't inherit the earth, we borrow it from our children - what kind of future do you want to create?

A special day in the basis.point calendar, Showcase is about bringing together people who want to make social change with people who can make that change happen.

I'm delighted to be speaking at the upcoming Charities Institute Ireland Leadership Summit tomorrow, September 15th and moderating the panel discussion - ‘Powering Your Purpose – Deconstructing Sustainability’

With companies now focusing on a higher purpose beyond profits and employees demanding that their CEOs speak out and act on societal and environmental issues, the ‘for-purpose’ sector is no longer the domain of charities alone. With this blurring of lines, comes the opportunity for the charity sector to power our purpose, to catalyse and scale our collective impact and lead the sustainable transformation.

In this panel discussion, we will discuss what sustainability means for the sector, where we need to invest and show leadership, and why we need to understand ESG and the opportunities and challenges it brings. No matter where you are on your sustainability journey, it starts with you, and a commitment to lead with purpose. Sustainability is in our DNA – how can we use it to power our purpose?

Looking forward to connecting with friends and colleagues and hearing from great global thought leaders who are supporting a community to put purpose and impact at the core of their work every day.

Over the past decade, there’s been a surge of interest in purpose-driven leadership. Academics argue persuasively that an executive’s most important role is to be a steward of the organisation’s purpose. Experts make the case that purpose is a key to exceptional performance and describe it as ...
