📢Ballymun Job Centre is currently recruiting for the position of European Project Assistant.

The BJC is involved in a number of European funded projects which focus on the development of
innovative approaches to labour market access, and we are looking for an EU Project Assistant who
will work closely with the Management and EU Projects teams to provide support on the successful
development and delivery of the projects from planning right through to completion to ensure that
the project goals are achieved.

The main duties that the EU Project Assistant will undertake include:
âť‘ Assist in the project management and administration duties of all BJC EU projects.
âť‘ Assist the EU project team to carry out the tasks / implement the actions, as agreed within the
project contracts for EU and other Projects where BJC is a lead or partner.
âť‘ Assist in the development of project plans, budgets, and reports.
âť‘ Provide support to the EU Projects Manager and meet to agree a work plan for the EU Projects.
âť‘ Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of project progress and ensure that any issues that may
arise are identified and addressed.
âť‘ Attend all EU project team meetings and take and distribute minutes.
âť‘ Work with project partners on the implementation of the project outputs.
âť‘ Organise meetings, workshops and other events and assist in the creation of reports,
presentations, meeting agendas and other documents.
âť‘ Assist in creating and maintaining effective office systems including data management.
âť‘ Support the project dissemination and social media strategy.
âť‘ Assist in the organisation of and attend transnational meetings as required.
âť‘ Develop and maintain effective communication and good working relationships with BJC
funders, partners, and other stakeholders.
âť‘ Assist in the writing of interim and final reports relating to project activities.
âť‘ Contribute to the development of new project ideas, proposals, and applications.

The ideal person is self-motivated with the capacity to work effectively within a team environment
and to establish and maintain strong working relationships with partners and stakeholders. They
should have excellent inter-personal, planning, organisational, networking and communication skills
and a good understanding of all social media platforms.
Travel is an essential part of this role, and candidates must be willing and able to travel
internationally as required. Some evening and weekend work may also be required.
A relevant third level qualification, while not essential would be a distinct advantage.
This position is full time and is initially offered on an initial one-year fixed term contract. Following
shortlisting, successful candidates will be invited to attend for interview.
Salary for this position is on a scale between €30,760 to €34,486 depending on experience.

City Farm and Gardens Ballymun are hiring!
An exciting opportunity has arisen to help establish and develop a new community garden in Ballymun, with a long-term development plan to create a city farm over the next four years.

The relocation of the “Muck and Magic” Community Garden to Balbutcher Lane will form the foundation of this ambitious project and support the long-term vision for sustainable community-based gardening, food production and biodiversity development in the heart of Ballymun.

Key Responsibilities
•Manage the relocation of the existing community garden from its current location to the new site at Balbutcher Lane
•Open and close the community garden in accordance with approved opening times
•Coordinate the management of the community garden in accordance with best organic gardening practices
•Support and coordinate garden volunteers and employment scheme participants and provide guidance in accordance with best horticultural practice
•Work with the local community through outreach activities and through delivery of educational programmes to encourage gardening participation
•Promote the City Farm Ballymun objectives and ethos

Position Details
•20 hours per week
•Initial contract of 20 weeks (5 months)
•Possibility of extension, subject to funding/project development

Working Conditions
•Availability to work weekdays and weekends is required.
•The role includes an initial period of familiarisation and training in the Muck & Magic Community Garden.

Salary/Conditions
•This contract is initially part time, 20 hours a week for an initial 20-week period with the intent to extend subject to funding.
•Annual leave is calculated at 8% of hours worked and excludes public holidays
•Renumeration for this role is €20,000 annually (initial contract 5 months)

Established in 1986 the Ballymun Job Centre (BJC) is a local community focused, people centred, placement, career guidance and training organisation. Based on a culture of
excellence and innovation, the BJC provides a range of services and programmes supported by local, national and European organisations.

The Project Support Worker will work closely with Probation Services and other statutory, community and voluntary services on programmes and initiatives such as:
STRIVE/J-ARC is a joint agency response to crime protocol which aims to target prolific offenders who cause harm or disruption in the Ballymun community. STRIVE/J-ARC brings together Garda, Probation Services, Irish Prison Services and community-based organisations and places the offender at the centre of the process and identifies his/her
needs, strengths and risk and provides an interagency co-operation and co-ordinated response to addressing them.
Ballyrunners - an activity and skills-based programme which targets high risk individuals in the Ballymun area and aims to positively engage participants in constructive activities and change their attitudes and behaviours.
This job demands a performance orientated individual who can influence others.

The position requires a person with a unique mix of skills that has the capacity to provide one to one contact to clients (some of whom may be in prison) and provide guidance, mentoring,
encouragement and support. It will also involve sourcing appropriate training and organising activities for clients to engage and participate in and developing individual progression plans
for clients. An understanding of issues around unemployment, addiction, mental health difficulties, antisocial behaviour and the criminal justice system along with knowledge of training and other support structures for disadvantaged people are key qualities needed.
The ideal person is highly motivated with a passion for engaging with clients on a daily basis. They should be self-driven, focused and diverse with the capacity to work within a team. Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, administration, minute taking, file
management and report writing skills along with a proven ability to develop and establish networks are all key requirements for this role.
2 years’ experience in a similar type of role along with a degree in Social work/Social care, Community or Addiction studies would also be desirable.
Terms of Employment – This is a part-time role, 20 hours per week and initially offered on aone-year fixed term contract. The role comes with a competitive employment package including a salary between €37,538 and €43,330 (pro rata) depending on experience. The
BJC operates a pension scheme, training opportunities, Flextime and working from home policies.
There may be potential for this role to increase to full-time hours, subject to the availability of additional resources and funding.

STAR Ballymun, are looking for a Financial Administrator to join their team.

(This is a set term contract for fifteen months)

STAR Ballymun works with people who are using substances and their family members who wish to make positive life changes. We run a Drug and Alcohol programme, a Family Support Service and Easy Street Outreach Team.

Our funders for the service are the HSE, Ballymun Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force and Department of Social Protection.

We are looking to recruit a full time Financial Administrator for 35 hours per week for about 15 months contract to cover a career break. The salary is up to €45,000.

The primary responsibility is to maintain the books of accounts and to prepare monthly and annual financial accounts for the Board and for various funders and for audit purposes. The successful candidate will deal with budget preparations and all reporting requirements of funders to tight deadlines.

This person needs to be highly experienced in financial leadership including administration, governance, compliance and will take responsibility for finance function, overseeing financial operations and financial reporting. STAR Ballymun, is a busy organisation and the person will be reporting to the Managing Director and the Board.

STAR has a good working environment in a close and supportive staff team with good morale. We aim for a productive and happy work environment but it can be noisy at times as the premises are small for the volume of work and the postholder will be in a shared office
