Futurefit Ireland

Futurefit Ireland FutureFit helps sports clubs and facilities reduce their energy, water and waste costs. Our EnergyF FutureFit wants to help achieve these savings.

Ireland is a sporting nation; 1.4 million people are members of over 12,000 sports clubs. It’s difficult to think of a channel with so much influence and pe*******on into every city, town and almost every household in the country. FutureFit was set up specifically to work in this space; to help sports clubs benefit from energy efficiency and through them to spread it's business case throughout eve

ry community. An average small GAA club could save €3,000 per annum through energy efficiency alone. If applied to all soccer, GAA and rugby clubs the savings amount to almost €10M per annum. Our EnergFit pilot program empowers energy champions within sports facilities to create and implement their very own energy management plans. Training is FREE for eligible clubs and supported by SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland). See http://tinyurl.com/d23fwsz to tell us more about your clubs needs. Our hope is that FutureFit will evolve to facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships between technology providers, investors, government funding agencies, sports clubs and their governing bodies (e.g FAI, Tennis Ireland etc.). The desired result is lower costs, greater energy efficiency for clubs and facilities and a healthier and more sustainable future for their communities.

Great news on microgeneration of electricity

Citizens, farmers, business owners and community organisations will be able to sell electricity into the grid under new scheme being developed by Climate Minister Eamon Ryan

And you can submit you own thoughts and ideas on the design of the new Microgeneration Support Scheme (MSS) which is expected to come on stream by the summer. It will allow citizens and communities to generate their own renewable electricity, e.g. from solar panels on their roofs, and receive a fair price when they sell the excess into the grid.

Speaking today Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamonn Ryan TD said: “This scheme will allow people and communities to become active participants in the energy transition. By producing and selling their own electricity citizens, farmers, business owners and community organisations can save on their energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint. I urge interested parties to get involved and have their say.”

This public consultation will remain open until 17.30hrs on 18th February 2021. All responses should be submitted to [email protected] or in writing to MSS Consultation, Electricity Policy Division, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, 29-31 Adelaide Road, Dublin 2, Ireland. D02X285.
