🦺 SAFETY IN ACTION AT DUBLIN AIRPORT

As part of this year's CIF Construction Safety Campaign, our CJK team on the Terminal 1 Retail Project at Dublin Airport held a practical welding demonstration, highlighting the importance of safe working practices during hot works.

The session covered GB pipe and copper pipe welding, along with key safety procedures including hot works permits, fire prevention measures, exclusion zones and the use of thermal imaging equipment to monitor temperatures following welding.

Working in a live airport environment makes careful planning and coordination especially important, reinforcing why getting the basics right matters. ✅

🦺 Construction Safety Campaign | Week 1 Roundup

That's a wrap on Week 1 of the CIF Construction Safety Campaign!

It's been a busy week across CJK sites, with teams getting involved in a range of activities focused on this year's theme, Back to Basics.

From practical demonstrations on eye and face protection and LOTO / COHE presentations to toolbox talks and discussions around mental health and wellbeing, the week has been an opportunity to revisit the fundamentals and reinforce the importance of keeping safety at the forefront of everything we do.

It's also been great to see our people taking an active role, with apprentices and qualified mechanical and electrical tradespeople taking turns to deliver daily toolbox talks on our Amgen site, reinforcing that everyone has a part to play in building a strong safety culture.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped organise, deliver and participate in the activities throughout the week. 👏

We're looking forward to continuing the momentum into Week 2!

Knowing how to respond when a colleague is struggling can make a real difference. 💚

As part of the CIF Construction Safety Campaign, we welcomed Mary O’Grady and Tom McConkey from the Lighthouse Charity to C2 for Taking Mental Health Back to Basics.

The session focused on recognising when colleagues may be struggling, knowing how to offer support and when to involve professional help.

We also hosted a live webinar, helping share this valuable guidance across the wider construction industry.

A big thank you to Mary and Tom for sharing their knowledge and supporting those who support others. 👏

Experience matters in our industry. But whether you're an apprentice or have decades of experience, it's important to keep coming back to the fundamentals. That's the message behind this year's CIF Construction Safety Campaign, Back to Basics.

At CJK, we're supporting the campaign by reinforcing the responsibility we all share for safety: recognising risks, challenging unsafe practices, speaking up and looking out for one another. 👷

Over the next two weeks, our teams will take part in toolbox talks, safety demonstrations and discussions covering health and wellbeing, critical risks and the everyday practices that help keep everyone safe. ✅

Keeping Dublin Airport moving ✈️

CJK completed a 12-month mechanical infrastructure upgrade at Dublin Airport, replacing LTHW and CHW pumping systems across multiple Terminal 1 plantrooms.

Working in a live airport environment, our team carefully phased shutdowns and system isolations to replace and recommission critical heating and cooling infrastructure while minimising disruption to ongoing airport operations.

Another complex project delivered by our mechanical team in a challenging live environment. 👏

Protecting hands on site ✋

Almost one in four non-fatal injuries in construction involve the hands or fingers - a reminder of just how important hand safety is on site.

As part of our ongoing focus on safety and continuous learning, teams across a number of CJK sites recently took part in Toolbox Talks with Hilti Ireland focused on hand safety and Hand-Arm Vibration (HAVS).

The sessions looked at the risks associated with using both power tools and hand tools, covering everything from vibration exposure and correct tool selection to hand positioning, appropriate PPE and safe working practices.

It was a practical opportunity for our teams to look at how the right tools, equipment and working methods can help reduce the risk of hand and arm injuries in their day-to-day work.

Another great few days at WorldSkills Ireland! 🤩

It was great to meet so many students at WorldSkills Ireland last week and chat about apprenticeships, life at CJK and the opportunities available through CJK Academy.

The buzz wire was back again this year and, as always, brought out plenty of competition!

A brilliant event for showcasing apprenticeships and giving the next generation an insight into the different career paths available across the industry. 🙌

CJK establishes new Advisory Board 📢

We are pleased to announce the establishment of the CJK Advisory Board, bringing together three highly experienced business leaders who will provide independent insight, challenge and guidance to our Executive Board.

🔹 Clare Colhoun (Advisory Board Chairperson) – former CEO of 8over8 (now part of the AVEVA group) and Ubisense, bringing extensive experience in commercial management of large capital projects and international growth.

🔹 Thomas Drumm – former MD of Collen Construction, bringing significant experience in construction and safety leadership across a wide range of sectors, both in Ireland and internationally.

🔹 Alan Boyne – former Partner at KPMG, bringing extensive experience in corporate strategy, financial governance and Mergers and Acquisitions.

The new Advisory Board reflects our continued focus on strengthening the business as CJK grows in scale and ambition, ensuring we have the right experience around the table to support key strategic decisions.

We look forward to working with Clare, Tommy and Alan and to the contribution they will make to CJK.
