LEGACY & TIME. The bottles were revealed by Robert in last nights videos across our socials.

They truly are three extraordinary survivors from another era of Irish wh***ey.

The Jameson 5 Star was distilled in Dublin around 1900 and exported to the United States before Prohibition. Decades later, a six-bottle cache was discovered beneath the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado, where it had reportedly been hidden to avoid the dry laws. Only three bottles had survived with a good fill level. Irish Distillers later authenticated the wh***ey, confirming its genuine Jameson character. Today, this is believed to be one of only two bottles remaining in private hands.

The Merlin Irish Wh***ey tells a very different story. Produced by W. & A. Gilbey, the famous Dublin w**e and spirit merchants forever linked with Redbreast, Merlin formed part of Gilbey’s fascinating family of bird-named wh***eys. Redbreast survived. Merlin all but disappeared. Very little auction history exists, and surviving bottles are exceptionally scarce.

Then there is Yellowhammer.

Another Gilbey wh***ey, another bird-inspired name, but one so elusive that we have never handled an example before. Our research has not uncovered another surviving bottle offered through the usual auction channels. For collectors of historic Irish wh***ey, Gilbey material and the wider story behind Redbreast, this is a genuinely important survivor.

For us, bottles like these are exactly why specialist wh***ey auctions matter.

They need more than a photograph and a lot number. They need research, context, careful cataloguing and an international audience that understands what they are looking at.

And today feels like an especially fitting day to bring them to market.

4 September is the final day of the Irish Wh***ey Technical File consultation.

While the industry looks at how Irish wh***ey is defined and protected for the future, these bottles give us a rare glimpse of what came before.

Our September Spirits Auction opens TODAY at 5 PM and runs 4–13 September.

International bidding and shipping available.

You may never see bottles like these come to auction again in your lifetime.

And now, the story continues.

LEGACY & TIME — PART 2

The bottles have been revealed.

What remains is the history they carry.

These are the bottles that came before the modern collector releases, before secondary markets, before anyone imagined that bottles like these might one day become historical artefacts in their own right.

They survived.

And now they are here.

For collectors, historians and lovers of Irish wh***ey, opportunities like this do not come around often.

Perhaps once in a career.

The waiting is over.

LEGACY & TIME — PART 1

For weeks, we have shown you shadows, shapes and fragments of a story.

Tonight, we begin to reveal the bottles themselves.

These are not simply old bottles of Irish wh***ey.

They are survivors from another era — bottles with history, provenance and a place in the story of Irish wh***ey long before collecting became what it is today.

Three remarkable bottles.

Three pieces of history.

And now, finally, they step back into the light.

We are absolutely delighted to share some very exciting news…

We’ve been named FINALISTS in THREE categories at the Louth Business Awards 2026.

Irish Wh***ey Auctions is a finalist for Best Established Small Business.

The Wh***ey Hub is a finalist for New Business of the Year.

And The Wh***ey Hub has also been shortlisted for the Export & Global Impact Award.

To say we’re chuffed would be an understatement.

These awards celebrate the businesses, people and organisations helping to strengthen our local business community, so to be recognised across three categories is a real honour for our whole team.

We’re very proud of how far Irish Wh***ey Auctions has come, and equally proud to see The Wh***ey Hub being recognised as a growing local business with an increasingly international reach.

A big congratulations to all of our fellow finalists too. We wish everyone the very best of luck for the next stage.

Now… tuxes to dust off, glam to book and apparently a few four-leaf clovers to locate before the Gala Awards Dinner on October 17th.

Fingers crossed.

From all of us at Irish Wh***ey Auctions & The Wh***ey Hub.
Sonas agus Grá!

We have our September auction highlight with Rob, as Anthony is gallivanting about the European Mountain ranges with Jarlath yodelling n' stuff.
We have Two Stacks bottles in our auction and wanted to highlight the experimental vibe the lads there bring to the Irish Wh***ey Game. Lots of finishes, cool casks, unusual combo's and some great colllabs make Two Stacks one to watch and taste , so get bidding on Friday at 5 for those ones.
Next- Thomond Gate, the brand originates in Limerick -it has some true fans too and we notice very little of their bottles get to auction- we think its because the fans are supping it up, and more power to them!
The releases are worth waiting for and now with Nick and teams brilliant Yankee Clipper Coffee Liqueur hitting LIDL shelves, we know this brand will be a lot more recognisable now too!

BIDDING STARTS AT 5PM FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH AND RUNS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 13TH.
