🎉 International recognition for Imperfect Days!
We are delighted to celebrate the success of Imperfect Days, an Irish documentary that has received an Honourable Mention in the Best Short Film category at the SCINEMA International Science Film Festival 2026 in Australia.
Produced with funding from the Health Research Board through the HRB Diabetes Collaborative Clinical Trial Network, Imperfect Days was created as part of the Science on Screen initiative, founded by CÚRAM, the Research Ireland Centre for Medical Devices, and Ardán, with the support of Research Ireland.
The documentary shares the powerful stories of people living with diabetes and demonstrates how clinical trials, together with meaningful Patient and Public Involvement (PPI), are helping to shape the future of diabetes research and improve healthcare.
Congratulations to director Dave Qualter, producer Laura Qualter, Prospect Films, and our collaborators at CÚRAM, Ardán, the Centre for Cell Manufacturing Ireland, and everyone involved in bringing this important project to life.
A special thank you to our Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) contributors, particularly Wendy Landers APA, whose leadership and commitment to meaningful PPI helped shape the documentary and demonstrate the value of involving patients and the public as partners throughout the research journey.
Most importantly, thank you to the people living with diabetes and their families who generously shared their experiences. A huge thank you to all film participants who generously gave of their time and made this documentary possible. Your voices are helping to build understanding, trust and participation in clinical research.
