Delighted to see Thriveabetes (Thrive with Diabetes) hosting a screening of the Imperfect Days documentary and helping to bring these important voices and experiences to a wider audience.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring participants from the film alongside people living with diabetes, researchers and clinicians. Together, they’ll share their stories, experiences and perspectives.

This promises to be a really meaningful event for people living with diabetes, their families and carers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and anyone interested in learning more.

🎉 International recognition for Imperfect Days!

We are delighted to celebrate the success of Imperfect Days, an Irish documentary that has received an Honourable Mention in the Best Short Film category at the SCINEMA International Science Film Festival 2026 in Australia.

Produced with funding from the Health Research Board through the HRB Diabetes Collaborative Clinical Trial Network, Imperfect Days was created as part of the Science on Screen initiative, founded by CÚRAM, the Research Ireland Centre for Medical Devices, and Ardán, with the support of Research Ireland.

The documentary shares the powerful stories of people living with diabetes and demonstrates how clinical trials, together with meaningful Patient and Public Involvement (PPI), are helping to shape the future of diabetes research and improve healthcare.

Congratulations to director Dave Qualter, producer Laura Qualter, Prospect Films, and our collaborators at CÚRAM, Ardán, the Centre for Cell Manufacturing Ireland, and everyone involved in bringing this important project to life.

A special thank you to our Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) contributors, particularly Wendy Landers APA, whose leadership and commitment to meaningful PPI helped shape the documentary and demonstrate the value of involving patients and the public as partners throughout the research journey.

Most importantly, thank you to the people living with diabetes and their families who generously shared their experiences. A huge thank you to all film participants who generously gave of their time and made this documentary possible. Your voices are helping to build understanding, trust and participation in clinical research.

The Diabetes Collaborative Clinical Trial Network pleased to announce two €10,000 scholarships to be made available through Galway University Foundation with industry partners Menarini and Novo Nordisk. Both scholarships are intended to support Masters students in research programmes, commencing academic year 2025/26, to build capacity, skills and knowledge in the conduct of clinical trials in diabetes, by means of providing financial support.

The Menarini scholarship will support one Masters student with an award of €10,000 for one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study in the MSc in Clinical Research programme at University of Galway. The Novo Nordisk scholarship will support one Masters student with an award of €10,000 for one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study in the MSc (Clinical Research), MSc (Applied Clinical Data Analytics) or MSc (Evidence-Based Future Healthcare) programmes at University of Galway.
