Found this clearing out notes and was a reminder I needed.

This time last year, I made the decision to put myself first physically as well as mentally and emotionally.

I wanted my body to feel as good as I did in my head. And it was far from it!

I didn't realise HOW far!

I had numbed myself to the chronic pain and inflammation my body was immersed in yet still stayed going for me.

I had spent years, killing myself, working hard and even though there was always some element that I did love and what started me doing it in the first place, I realised that probably 95% wasn't what I wanted but doing it for others, what society expects, what my beliefs and patterns had been trained to do all my life.

I had no choice in the end but to just STOP!

If I wanted to heal my body from the sea of inflammation I had let it slip into, I HAD TO STOP!

Bit by bit I started to do things I loved again and enjoyed.

My body started to heal but above all else, I started to feel it again. Not just feel pain.

I started this change in 2024 and now there's no going back.

Here's to 2025 and beyond.......

Lots of love,
Emer x

I regularly ask myself, am I respecting my own boundaries? As a lifetime people pleaser, I ignored my own boundaries which caused a LOT of digestion problems in my case and had IBS when I was younger. It was all down to ME not respecting my own boundaries and limits.

🔸Boundaries are not walls. They only become walls for survival when we are not valuing our own boundaries.

🔸Boundaries vary day to day and we need to communicate them to others. What's OK and not OK for me today.

🔸Boundaries are NOT excuses! They simply keep us on track for what we want in life.

🔸Boundaries require prioritising ourselves.

Ignoring our own boundaries results in:

✅ Illness - in my case digestive problems and weight gain due to stress.
✅ Unhappiness.
✅ Stress, fear and doubt.
✅ Feeling we have no time.
✅ Unhealthy relationships and friendships.
✅ Exhaustion and burnout.

And these are just the ones I have discovered for myself. The cause of each was not listening, sharing and respecting my own boundaries.

It's not our job to try and control others and set boundaries on them. We draw our boundary line, if they cross it, it's ourselves that walk away.

Anywayssss, I hope that might help someone else. I made 2023 my year of boundaries and I really sucked at it at first! But it has brought me to the happiness I have now.

💫 I came across this question and I think it's a great one. Anger-based includes frustration and irritation whereas fear-based would be overwhelm.

I always measured stress based on fear-based which only comes in waves from time to time until I realised I wasn't MANAGING stress I like so many had normalised it.

Things I didn't give credit to their input to stress: the kitchen untidy, place feeling cluttered, disorganised, hamster wheel feeling are small daily stressors that I ignored not seeing the effects. This reflected into work and other areas, different things but the frustrations were the same.

Death by 1000 cuts! It's all these little stresses that we ignore that I believe now has a massive impact on our health. Getting on top of each of these small things took away the frustration that I had less say in. I went from feeling frustrated most of the time so very rarely now. It gave me a sense of being on top of things which THEN takes away a lot of the overwhelming moments when I can feel completely swamped. It's all connected and it's just about disrupting that cycle and taking back my power within myself.

It was a great exercise so I decided to share it.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this too.

Big love,
Emer ###

Some memories from

It was a great and very different experience going as a volunteer this year vs as an attendee in the past.

I met loads of amazing students which I normally wouldn't at an event like this and many of the speakers.
