Every project tells a story—and this one is a perfect example of how great design evolves.

While Solar Structures is best known for our innovative solar pergolas and canopies, this project was a little different. Having already created a stunning solar-covered walkway in the beautiful formal gardens of this historic home, we were delighted to return for Phase Two: a bespoke pergola over the seating area.

The vision for this space belongs entirely to the homeowner, whose creativity and eye for design have transformed these gardens into something truly special. We're grateful they trusted Solar Structures to help bring that vision to life.

The finished result complements the character of this historic property while creating an elegant outdoor living space that's shaded, sheltered, and built to last. Better still, it's another step towards reducing carbon emissions through thoughtful, beautifully integrated solar design.

Projects like this show that sustainability and exceptional design don't just coexist—they enhance one another.

🌞 A beautiful blend of heritage and sustainability.

Set in the grounds of a historic property in North Cork, this bespoke double solar carport was carefully designed to fit within a tight space while complementing its stunning surroundings.

With a total solar capacity of 7.7kWp, the system also includes an EV charger, inverter and battery storage, helping the homeowner generate clean electricity, charge their car and reduce energy bills—all while preserving the character of this beautiful older property.

🌞 From challenge to opportunity.

This unique solar installation was built on the site of a former Leylandii hedge, requiring a completely bespoke design to make the most of the available space and its beautiful surroundings.

With a significant fall in the ground from east to west, we engineered the structure to slope in two directions, maximising solar generation while maintaining a sleek, low-profile appearance.

The result? A stunning installation that blends seamlessly into the landscape and will provide decades of clean, reliable, and low-cost energy.

One of the most overlooked ways to get more from solar is simply upgrading your existing system.

While it can sometimes be complex, it’s often far more straightforward—and cost-effective—than people expect.

On this recent project in North Tipperary, we expanded a system from 4.8kWp to 9.85kWp by adding additional panels to a beautiful coach house roof. The result? More than double the generating capacity for a relatively modest investment.

For this local microbrewery, that means significantly lower energy costs, reduced CO₂ emissions, and a big step forward in their sustainability journey.

Something a bit different this week! We dont usually do roofs without solar, but in this case we were tasked with re-roofing an old mass concrete shed, that had fallen into disrepair. The corrugated steel in red oxide, with custom fabricated matching doors, nicely compliment the Douglas Fir Shiplap, on the front Gable. Grateful to be involved in bringing an old building back to its former glory. It will make a fantastic light filled workshop for many years to come!
