For as long as I can remember I have had an anchor in wanting to be of service. I remember saving snails from getting run over when I was just a few years old, and I was never allowed to go fishing with the family because I’d throw the fish back in the ocean. My first experience with human suffering was in India when I was 6 years old. I couldn’t understand why people were barefoot outside when I got to sleep in a comfortable hotel bed every night. To this day I remember the eyes of the children begging for food in the street. It changed me. As I grew older I felt a palpable pain whenever I came across injustice. I remember giving my entire allowance to a homeless woman when I was 12 and my dad wondering how I’d managed to lose all my money in a day.
I grew up and as most adults do, started looking the other way. Living a life conscious of the pain present in this world is not an easy thing. At 18 I left my home country, traveled the world, met my soulmate, turned my passion into a career... But inside of me the same heart beats with a longing to make a difference for people in need. I know I’m not alone - we all feel the same and I believe we ALL have a longing to make a change in the world. As Ram Dass says: we’re all walking each other home.
Growing older and building this community as started off as a whirlwind and it took me a little while to anchor into my true purpose as an influencer, teacher and entrepreneur: doing real, true good in the world. I founded and co-founded in 2015 and since then we have been able to change many lives through the power of social media. Now, the time has come for me to harness the full potential of all 2.1 million of us to make a difference on a new level. Big change comes from big decisions. Changing the world not only requires passion but also structure, transparency, hard work, courage and most importantly: a community coming together. So. In collaboration with companies dedicated to change and together with individuals just like you and me, I am going to introduce a new initiative on this platform.
