Bizmentors

Bizmentors Bizmentors is an initiative of SCCUL Enterprise CLG, CHY No:15857 Registered Charity Number:20055783

Bizmentors is a mentoring programme for small business owners & start ups/ emerging businesses in Galway City & County. It aims to provide pro-bono access to business expertise and wisdom to people in small businesses (existing or start-up) who may otherwise have difficulty in accessing such expertise. Emerging from feedback received from participants in the SCCUL Entrepreneurship Awards, a panel

of mentors has been identified who are willing to offer pro-bono mentoring to small businesses and start-ups on a short term basis. Three, hour-long, sessions of mentoring will be provided on a one to one basis starting in SCCUL Enterprise Centre. The programme is designed to complement existing programmes available from Enterprise Ireland, the County Board and Innovation Centres. Mentoring support is available in the following areas: Business Planning, Finance, HR, General Business Management, IT, Legal, Marketing & PR, Quality, R & D, Sales, Training & Development, Quality Control. An Advisory Board will oversee the ethical and efficient running of the programme. With the support of Enterprise Ireland the programme is being rolled out in Mayo & Roscommon in 2017.

We were thrilled to welcome a full house to the Harbour Hotel Galway this week for the opening event of the Bizmentors Social Enterprise Community.

Attendees were encouraged to join the discussions with our inspirational panel of Galway based social enterprises that included Hinterland, The Old Knitting Factory, Out and Link Galway CLG, dicussing the trials and triumphs of their own journeys to date.

The afternoon concentrated on peer to peer learning and our attendees engaged in breakout sessions with Spéire Nua, United Women Galway and Anam Music Therapy to listen to both the opportunities and problems they are facing.

A special thank you to all involved in making the day a success.
