Since its the weather for sunglasses 😎.....

Heading to an airport near you, this 20G crow banger.

Avian movement around airfields can cause significant disruption and damage. Bird flocks are constantly monitored and dispersed where needed.
An engine ingesting a bird can do millions in damage and has the potential to cause a series accident.

No Swiss files were hurt in the making of this reel 🤣
We keep the good Vallorbe files for hand fitting parts and cheap engineers files for this savagery 😎

Today were making a pin 😁 so a quick video.......

After quench the pin is about 65 HRC, hard enough that a file skates across it.

At this hardness the pin is also brittle and can/will easily break.

Next stage is to temper back to more usable 55 HRC

Continuing on with this AYA. A previously bad fitting firing pin has done irreparable damage to the left firing pin hole...

Continuing on with this AYA.

A previously bad fitting firing pin has done irreparable damage to the left firing pin hole.

While its hard to see, the round hole is oval and has a series of burrs internally.

For reference the upper pin is what came out and the bottom pin is what (roughly) should fit in 🫣

The right pin hole isn't as oval but the pin is a terrible fit.

After removing the internal burrs we think we'll be making a custom oversize pin for the left.

Not ideal, but its essential.

We are right where we need to be 😉

What's 1 of the most accurate ways to make sure your threads are square for mounting a rail etc ?

Tap them on a mill 😎

We're perfectly centered on the width of this reciever.
We have 4 holes drilled at the correct intervals for this 870 rail.
Now all thats left to do is go in with a 6-48 tap, followed by a deburr.

We think the effort is worth the time when you see the end result. No misalignment, no crooked threads m.

With such a short shelf life its essential track of Cerakote so you get the best results possible.

Here we're finishing 1 a pint and starting another 😍
We've been doing more Gloss Black this last month hence why it's lasted so long 🫣

Anyway since its predominantly Black we do, heres reminder of some of the other colours we keep 😎

We've got, Black, Tan, Bronze, Red, Blue, yellow, gold, green, silver brown and orange.... Most of these we have 2-3 variants of it 😉

Saturday's box of bits 😆

We picked this little gem up from another dealer for ourselves, only because we're gluttons for punishment 😁

The story we were told was that "A spring broke", it went to a RFD claiming to be a Gunsmith who sent it back in the box with the extra parts and schematic 🙄

It was then sent to another YouTube university expert who again sent it back in the box 🫣

Its been in the box for YEARS 😢

First thing we did was clean and inspect the frame and components.

The only 2 problems we could see

(i) A mangled trigger spring, probably done someone trying to "repair" above

(ii) A thread for the counter weight was damaged.

1 screw for the counter weight was missing so we made up another one, repaired the thread and installed the original trigger spring... just to check if it functioned 🫣

If there's a cleaner Mk 38 in the country 🇮🇪 we'd be surprised 😁

A credit to the owner as to how clean they kept this over and under.

Internally it was suffering a little a Full Service was required.

A small repair needed but nothing we can't solve 😍😍

With all the rust removed and internals polished its time ro get it back together 😁
