During the summer I had an opportunity to collect a swarm of bees from a bird box. The natural honey comb is so much more appealing than the flat combs we force them to make in the hives. Nature is beautiful in many respects. Lovely black bees they were too.

We are now into October and the weather is getting cold. I hope everybody has their bees fed and medicated for the winter ahead so that , when spring comes around, you will have strong, healthy beehives to open.
It is still not too late to treat with Apivar or VarroMed but time is running out fast. You still have a window to treat them in December with ApiBioxal. This will remove the mites but the damage caused by the mites is happening now.
This is for the love of bees!!!

The latest product to come on the Irish Market is VarroMed. This is an organic product which can be used to treat Varroa mites in spring, autumn and winter. It is so easy to apply and does not require any additional equipment or lengthy application period. It is simply poured between the frames and knocks down varroa almost immediately. Three applications six days apart is the usual dose and is is not temperature dependent. A great product and so easy to apply.
