This business has been started by Audrey Moore who has worked in social care environments at front-line and supervisory/management positions since 2002. Those working in social care spend a lot of time looking after the needs of others often neglecting their own needs for support and growth. The growing emphasis on professional development with the pending registration of Social Care Workers with CORU means that practitioners in social care are more engaged in their own ongoing professional development. This is an exciting and scary time for many in the profession and this consultancy aims to assist. Audrey is available for external supervision, 1:1 mentoring and interview preparation for individuals. CPD training and workshops will be carried out from 2020. Audrey is available to deliver training within organisations also. Get in touch to discuss your individual or service requirements.
What is External Supervision? Supervision is reflective practice of your work with a supervisor. It allows open discussion of your work with a view to improving practice. This supervision can be obtained externally from a suitably qualified and experienced person who is familiar with the challenges of your work.
Although reflective practice is important, it is not an urgent dimension of social care work in the face of so many other pressures and as a result it is often given reduced priority or not attended to at all. Many practitioners and organisations are engaging the services of external supervision to for individual development or to develop best practice in services. Engaging this service externally from a qualified and experienced practitioner can alleviate time pressure of front line supervisors and managers, freeing them up for more pressing matters. Many HIQA reports of residential services highlight the need for better and more frequent supervision of this sort.
