I've been quiet on here lately, but it's a good reason: since July I've been working as Digital Archivist & Coordinator on the Archiving Reproductive Health project at
Digital Repository of Ireland! It's a wonderful role & I'm so excited to be part of this important work. Very troubling report of a seminar a MBHCOI Commissioner participated in. Survivors only found out about it by chance, most questions were unanswered & those that were show the Commission had no intention of using survivor testimony to inform the Report.

Good article by Emily Mark-Fitzgerald, head of the school of art history and cultural policy at University College Dublin, about the recent controversy around photograph colourisation and digital manipulation.

'The expansion of the technical capacity and popular appetite to alter historical photography has not been matched by sufficient debate about the assumptions and consequences of this practice. In effect, colourisers do not address photographs as physical artefacts with unique histories of creation and reception: this work treats original photos as “windows” onto the past that can be “improved for viewers."'

"The history of LGBTI+ experience and identity in Ireland is to be explored in a new year-long programme from the National Library of Ireland.

The online events have been co-curated with the National Library by Tonie Walsh, veteran LGBTI+ rights activist, journalist, and founder of the Irish Q***r Archive, which is itself housed in the National Library.

Planned events include virtual talks, readings, workshops, panel discussions and events for children and young people.

The first event, entitled 'Lived lives: The Irish Q***r Archive', takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, 31 March, with events taking place each month thereafter."

The history of LGBTI+ experience and identity in Ireland is to be explored in a new year-long programme from the National Library of Ireland.
