The three bridges crossing the Firth of Forth (from top to bottom):

THE Forth Bridge completed in 1890 to a cantilever design and which carries trains. We were told as children that it takes so long to paint that by the time the crews get to the end, it's time to start all over again!

The Forth Road Bridge opened in 1964 as a suspension bridge to carry vehicles and pedestrians.

The Queensferry Crossing built in 2017 to a cable-stayed design and which replaces the primary function of the Forth Road Bridge at a cost of £1.35 billion. Appropriately named after the villages of North and South Queensferry on either side which themselves were named after an historic ferry crossing from Lothian to Fife.

When I fly in over the Forth estuary and see the bridges, I know I'm home

One of the six original Harry Clarke stained glass windows in Bewley's Oriental Cafe, Grafton Street, Dublin. These are an intrinsic part of this structure and are to remain in-situ based on a Supreme Court ruling today. They will continue to be enjoyed by customers as they sip their coffee and take in the artistic detail of these stunning windows. See article below from RTÉ.
