MEMBER SPOTLIGHT | The Heights Hotel Killarney

We’re delighted to launch our new Member Spotlight series - introducing the people and businesses that make up the Killarney Chamber community.

First up, we’re shining a light on The Heights Hotel Killarney, a family-run business that has been part of Killarney’s hospitality story for more than 50 years.

Purchased by the O’Riordan family in 1973, The Heights has continued to evolve while staying true to the values at the heart of the business: personal hospitality, great people and strong community connections.

And they’re certainly no strangers to the Chamber community. You’ll often spot the Heights team at our business luncheons, networking events and gatherings, connecting with fellow local businesses and getting involved in the wider Killarney business community.

As Sean McDermott, General Manager at The Heights Hotel Killarney, puts it:

“It’s the combination of our location, our people and personal hospitality, alongside the connections we’ve built within the local community over generations, that makes The Heights unique.”

Today, The Heights is a familiar name in Killarney for accommodation, dining, weddings, conferences, celebrations and events - with further investment planned for 2027, including a ballroom refurbishment, solar energy and continued investment in sustainability and guest comfort.

A business with deep roots in Killarney, strong community connections and plenty more to come.

Lunchtime looked a little different yesterday as Chamber members swapped their desks for the great outdoors and joined us for a networking walk through Killarney National Park ☕️🌿

Armed with takeaway coffees in reusable cups, we enjoyed a fantastic stroll while connecting with fellow members and learning more about the rich history of Killarney. A special thank you to Jerry O’Grady for his fascinating insights into Killarney House & Gardens and the stories behind some of Killarney’s notable historic homes and estates.

It was a wonderful turnout and a great opportunity to connect, learn and enjoy all that our National Park has to offer.

Celebrating 100 Years of The Arbutus Hotel ✨

Our July Chamber Luncheon at The Arbutus Hotel was a wonderful afternoon of networking, connection and celebration as we marked the hotel’s incredible 100-year milestone.

Members enjoyed hearing the Buckley family share the story behind a century of family ownership and the role The Arbutus has played in Killarney’s hospitality heritage.

A huge thank you to The Arbutus Hotel for hosting us, and to Mayor of Killarney Cllr John O’Donoghue for joining us and sharing his vision for the year ahead.

A huge well done to everyone involved in this year’s Summer in Killarney Festival! 🎉

What a fantastic lineup of events over the past two months, bringing so much energy and excitement to Killarney. It has been wonderful to see our streets buzzing, local businesses thriving, and both residents and visitors enjoying everything the festival had to offer.

Events like these showcase the very best of Killarney – a vibrant destination with something happening for everyone throughout the summer. Thank you to the organisers, volunteers, performers, businesses and everyone who played a part in making this year’s festival such a success.

A sincere thank you to all our Chamber members for another fantastic luncheon, this time at the Arbutus Hotel. It was great to see such a wonderful turnout.

Thank you to Mayor John O’Donoghue for addressing our members, and to the Buckley family for their warm hospitality as the Arbutus Hotel celebrates its remarkable 100-year anniversary. It was fascinating to hear the history behind one of Killarney’s most iconic hotels.
