What a beautiful morning for our Welcome Meitheal last saturday😎. It was such a great day weatherwise.☀️

Seven work groups with new residents in village, volunteers and our Kent State University students helped us get ready for ajudication with seven jobs completed. A really great help towards ajudication readiness. 💪

Mile buiochas to the ICA for all their baking, communitiy groups Kinvara Alive, Tidy towns, KAVA and ICA for promoting what they do. Thanks also to Mark Molloy from Galway Co Co for promoting anti dog fouling and litter campaigns and best practices.

We also completed a nature walk, including exploring our pollinator beds and two new biodiversity signs, more to follow tomorrow.

Grateful to all for their time and positive support to our team🙏😊

Thanks to St. Joseph's NS , Principal Dominic Gallagher and teacher Bronagh Crampton for hosting Kent State university students and faculty on friday.

They were so impressed with the sixth class STEM lego projects and how research and learning is supported by our community collaborations. They were most impressed with the students delivery and openess to share their projects.

Kent state university have been visiting Kinvara since 2021, to experience community groups and experience music and sport. Will share some more posts on their visit over the next few days.

Great biodiversity events in Loughrea😀

Check out programme below💪

🌿Loughrea to come alive with wildlife discoveries as Biodiversity Festival and BioBlitz kicks off tomorrow! We’re delighted that our festival will be officially opened by An Cathaoirleach of Galway County Council, Cllr David Collins.

From 7:30pm tomorrow, teams of ecologists, local schools and volunteers will come together to record as many species as possible across the town and lake in just 24 hours. Alongside the BioBlitz, there’s a full programme of free, family-friendly events at our hub on the Fair Green, including guided walks, talks and biodiversity demonstrations.

Hedgerows Ireland will be running an educational event throughout the day at Mad Yolk Farm on the 22nd May, with guided walks at 11am and 1pm. The walks will be approximately 1.5 hours in length.

If you’re in the area, we’d love to see you there, come along, get involved and help us celebrate the rich biodiversity of Loughrea. For more information, visit www.mkoireland.ie/bioblitz
