Clients planning on applying for the new environmental scheme, ACRES, will be included in either the 'General' or 'Co-operation' scheme. If you are included in the 'CO-OPERATION' scheme there are a number of information evenings being run by the ACRES Donegal CP Team in early November.
It is advised that anyone in the Co-operation scheme should attend.
The dates are:
•Donegal Town: @ Abbey Hotel (Wednesday 2nd November - 7:30pm)
•Gortahork: @ Óstán Loch Altan (Thursday 3rd November - 7:30pm)
•Glenties: @ Highland Hotel (Monday 7th November - 7:30pm)
•Cloghan: @ Harkins Bar (Tuesday 8th November - 7:30pm)
•Carndonagh: @ Simpson’s Bar (Thursday 10th November - 7:30pm)

The information events are targeted at farmers who are located within the Donegal CP zone and will outline the Donegal CP zone and how the CP project will work in these regions.

Reminder to all farmers planning to spread slurry, chemical fertiliser or farmyard manure, the closed periods for Zone C, which includes Co. Donegal, is fast approaching;

Closed Periods-
Chemical fertiliser: September 15th to February 14th;
Slurry: October 8th to January 31st;
Farmyard manure: November 1st to January 31st.

11.59pm on Wednesday 14th October is the last time for applying slurry before the closed period commences on 15th October. Any GLAS participants, who have Low Emission Slurry Spreading as an action, must return completed Annual Declaration of L.E.S.S. to the Dept by 30th October latest. The DAFM Beef Finisher Payment Scheme is now open for applications on agfood.ie until 9th September, payment of €100 / slaughtered animal.

Eligible animals slaughtered:
*Slaughtered in the reference period of February 1st to June 12th, 2020.
*Aged 8 months or more when slaughtered.
*Resident on the qualifying herd for at least 30 days prior to slaughter (if not, the previous owner is eligible for payment if they are an applicant and have had the animal for over 30 days on their holding).
*Animals identified on the Department systems as presented for slaughter by or on behalf of a factory will not be eligible.
*Subject to a cap on payments in respect of 100 eligible animals per herd.
*You must be a member of Bord Bia.

Action 1 (Mandatory) - Weighing €50 for first 10 cow/calf pairs weighed
- €40 thereafter to a maximum of 100
cow/calf pairs in total

Action 2 (Optional) - Can select one of
the following: Meal feeding @ €30 per calf weighed
to a maximum of 100 calves.
or
Vaccination @€30 per calf weighed to
a maximum of 100 calves.

Action 3 (Optional) - Can be selected
in addition to Action 1 and/or Action 2. Faecal Egg Testing @ €10 per cow a
maximum of 100.

Waterford, is inviting members of the farming community throughout Ireland to participate in a new recording scheme – Farmer’s Wildlife Calendar – Climate Tracker. To give a clearer picture of the interactions of our seasons, biodiversity and changing climate.The 8 key sightings they are targeting are:
🐸The date you first see frog spawn on your farm.
🌼The date you first observe Primrose on your farm.
🦋On what date you first see the Orange-tip butterfly on your farm.
🐝The date you first see the Grey mining bee on your farm.
🐜The date you first observe the Large red damselfly on your farm.
