Bringing roofing details to life through hands-on CPD.

A big thank you to Oโ€™Connor Burke Architecture for joining us for our recent Kytun CPD session at our head office in Kilmacrennan, Co. Donegal.

The session gave architects in the practice the opportunity to walk around, handle the products and examine the details up closeโ€”connecting technical information with practical applications.

Being able to see how components fit together opens up useful conversations about specification, installation and detailing, helping bridge the gap between drawings and the finished roof.

At the new 110-bed Letterkenny Community Healthcare Facility, Kytun designed, manufactured and installed a coordinated package of aluminium and rainwater products for this major project.

In this site update, Matthew McAndry looks at the walkway canopy, where the fascia and roof panels have been installed ahead of the aluminium cladding, along with the rainwater downpipes, cast aluminium hoppers and capping system being used across the project.

Each element has a different job to do, but the materials, finishes and interfaces need to be considered together. Early coordination helps the design carry through to installation with fewer complications and a more consistent result across the building.

The project is being delivered with MCA Architects and Boyle Construction.

A closer look at the roof of Scoil Colmcille School in Letterkenny, where Kytun supplied and installed a complete AluSwift aluminium package, including extensive fascia and soffit systems, cappings, rainwater gutters, commercial downpipes and purpose-made components.

Working with MH Associates and Dorrian Construction, the team coordinated the manufacture and full on-site installation of the bespoke aluminium system throughout the new school development.

The close-ups show how carefully considered products, correct installation and a clean finish come together across the completed roof.
