Anyone else feeling this??? 😲

I don’t know about you but this hard lockdown is wearing me out!

January felt totally uninspired, but I think I was half prepared for it as we all knew what was coming.

The hardest part for me was personally knowing so many people who tested positive for Covid.

During our first hard lockdown, Covid felt scary but it kind of felt ‘far away’ too as I didn’t personally know anyone who tested positive.
Does that make sense?

Whereas this time, I know so many people who got it or have it 😢

Looking forward to brighter days ahead...

Have you noticed the stretch in the evening yet?
I sure have 🤩

And I’m constantly reminding myself that it’s darkest before the dawn.

My three year old played his first prank on me! 😲

We were driving in the car and I was in another world reflecting on how blessed I am to have him 🥰

I looked into the rear view mirror and saw him looking back at me 😍

I tell him that I love him...❤️
He replied ‘I don’t love you’ with the most serious face! 💔

I’m stunned and take a second before saying ‘okay’.

He then repeats really seriously again that he doesn’t love me and adds, ‘not a tiny bit’ 😥

I’m doing my best not to react and just say ‘okay’ again...

When he pipes up...

‘I don’t love you a tiny bit, I love you a big bit!! This much!!!!’ and he stretches out his arms as far as they can reach while throwing his head back and laughing hysterically 🤣🤣🤣

Like the guy is 3 years old 😅😅

Oh I’m in trouble with this one I think 😅😅😅😅

As we approach the end of the most bizarre year we could never have imagined, I’ve been reflecting on what lessons I’ve learned from all the craziness...

First I learnt that people are incredibly adaptable and what would seem incomprehensible one moment in time, can become so normal the next! 💪

Second, I learned that a substantial amount of people will not take the opportunity to improve their lives. Once given the chance to return to their comfort zones, they grab it with both hands 😢

Third I learned that many many others are only delighted to reach out and help in whatever way they can. For all the disharmony, there is much kindness in the world 🥰

Fourth I’ve learned that everyone essentially wants the same thing in wanting some form of normality again. Unfortunately in the pursuit of the same goal, different perspectives on how it should be achieved has caused massive turmoil. This has resulted in so much fear and people turning on each other 🙈

And finally the fifth thing I’ve learned is that at the root of everything, people are inherently good and that now more than ever it is so important to keep faith in humanity ❤️

I hope this post doesn’t come across as too negative, I wanted to be honest in my personal experience and lessons of this crazy year!

I’ve never done an intro post here. When I started Moms Mean Business it was an in person event but Covid changed that!

We’ve followers from all over the world here now so I said I’d say hi & give a little background on who I am 🙋‍♀️

I love finding out about all the amazing business mamas that I follow & I hope you’ll enjoy finding out about me too 😉

I’ll start with the formal & then the juicy fun stuff 🤩

I’m Valerie, founder of MMB & entrepreneur. I’m a mom of 2, Zoe & Ziggy. After becoming a mom for the second time I created MMB. I’m passionate about creating a safe space for moms to come together & support each other in life, motherhood & business

I’ve run many successful businesses but my complete passion is in supporting others move past their fears & insecurities so they can go forward & live the life of their dreams!

With the formalities done, here is the low down ⭐️

I left school 5 weeks before my final exams!
I had my first child at 20 & my second child at 40! There’s 20 years & 9 days between them 😲
I was a dance teacher & DJ in my younger years (salsa/Latin)
My dad's sudden passing turned my world upside down & I stopped dancing 💔
I generally come across confident but I continuously work on myself to feel it 🤩
I walked on fire with Tony Robbins 🔥
I also walked across broken glass with my mom & daughter 🕵️‍♀️
I have 4 tattoos
My mom, daughter & I have matching tattoos (though my mom HATES tattoos 🤣)
I can be very persuasive! See above ☝️
I ❤️❤️❤️ cheerleading mamas into getting what they want out of life! 📣
I’m vegan 🌱
I learned to use a sewing machine just so I could make a patchwork quilt 🧵
I learned crochet after having my second child & joined an amazing child friendly crochet group 🧶
I almost died twice! 😰
I’m a Reiki master 🙏
I am a massive cloth nappy & breastfeeding advocate 🌎🤱
My body hurts 95% of the time 😱
I’m happiest out in nature no matter what the weather ☀️🌧❄️💨

Leadership can be found in more ways than just business.

As parents we are constantly the leaders of our households and as entrepreneurs, the leaders of our business.

A lot of people talk about the brilliance of being in charge, but not enough is said about the outstanding courage and strength it takes to be positive even when facing an overwhelmingly negative situation.

This is something we have all faced this past year.

We have faced an unbelievable amount of negativity this year alone. Between lockdowns and restrictions, we’ve had to learn how to reframe and restructure both our home and business lives.

But there’s always hope on the horizon. So for now, yes we need to keep our positivity shining through.

Hopefully soon it won’t be so difficult to do!
