Challenges the cliched KISS and the plethora of quotes extolling the virtue of simplicity. Organisations are often not simple - they are complex: things are unpredictable, actions do not get the expected results, interdependence and interconnectedness means non-linearity is often rampant and ambiguity is woven into the fabric of organisational life. This is rarely reflected in approaches to leadership/management which are often predicated on the assumption that organisations can be controlled, culture can be created and results guaranteed.
