The Derby Sale emerged as the 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 4𝙮𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 2026.

Graduates Monster Truck, Palinca and Monzon Sport sold for massive sums at the Cheltenham Festival Sale, while Mifa D’Airy, Walkonseas and Wordfromhome were the top priced lots at boutique sales in the spring.

Quality continuously comes to the fore with the Derby Sale catalogue, and the 2026 edition features the progeny of five Gr1 winning mares, 10 siblings to Gr1 winners, 70 stores out of black type mares and almost 100 siblings to black type horses.

Mark Scallan was well rewarded when Harzwood was knocked down at €100,000, becoming the seventh six figure lot at Thursday’s May Point-to-Point & Horses in Training Sale.

The four-year-old was purchased as a Store in July 2025 for €16,000, and was the third purchase of the day for Noel Fehily and David Crosse.

The Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale broke new ground last week, as records were broken across the board, and phenomenal trade was recorded at the one-day sale.

For the first time turnover exceeded €12 million, while a record average of €62,198 was a 13 per cent increase on 2025. The record median concluded at €42,000, a 31 per cent increase on the corresponding figure 12 months previously, while a record five horses were sold for €300,000 or more.

He spoke about a brilliant result today for Michael Murphy’s Redbridge Stables.
