Are you planning on starting to bring staff back to work next week?

Don't forget that the Return to Work Protocol sets out that employers must issue a pre-return to work form for workers to complete at least THREE DAYS in advance of employees returning to work:
This form should seek confirmation that, to the best of their knowledge;
they have no symptoms of COVID-19 nor received a diagnosis of it in the past 14 days,
or awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test;
are not self isolating/cocooning upon medical advice,
have not been in close contact with a confirmed/suspected case in the past 14 days.

Make sure all return to work forms are retained as documentation.

Are you preparing to reopen your workplace? From a claims prevention point of view, the most important thing is to make sure that your Risk Assessment fully integrates the Return to Work Protocol. But don't ignore the original risk for the sake of this - gloves can become entangled in machinery, sanitation stations can cause slippery floors, floorsigns can become tripping hazards. Be aware of your risks

A few tips for those businesses who are preparing to return to work, those who have recently reopened, or those who have been open throughout the lockdown:
- It is essential that the Government’s Return to Work Protocol is integrated into your business' Risk Assessment.
- Don't forget that Covid-19 is not the only risk your business presents.
- Make sure that all Risk Minimisation procedures are well documented.
- And finally, train staff in all safety measures.

There has been much talk lately of the potential tsunami of claims heading for employers from employees suffering injury while working from home. Here at Business Minded, we work tirelessly to protect our clients’ businesses. Traditionally, this would have meant walking through your doors to see what’s going on behind them, making sure your employees, customers and visitors are safe, and that your equipment, premises and practices don't pose any risks. In these days of social distancing and staying at home, however, we, like so many others, have had to change the way we do things. Our Remote Workstation Assessments can help employers ensure that they are doing all that is reasonably practicable to ensure the safety, health and welfare of employees. Have a look at how we are carrying out inspections now, over on our website
