Most business owners don’t have a problem with hard work.

They have a problem with structure.

After more than 25 years working with businesses across Ireland, I’ve seen the same pattern again and again.

The owner is working long hours.
The team is busy.
Sales are happening.

But the business still depends far too heavily on the owner.

That’s why I teach business owners to build their business step by step.

There are 9 key areas I believe every business needs to have in place:

After 25 years of empowering Irish business owners, here is what I have learned about selling a business. The day you sell is the day you find out what you actually built.

If the business runs on you, your relationships, your decisions, your head holding all the numbers, then a buyer does not see an asset. They see a job that leaves when you do, and the price reflects that.

The owners who sell well, on their own terms, for what the business is really worth, do not start the year before. They start five or ten years out, and they build a business that already runs without them.

• The pitfalls that quietly wipe value off the price
