September is World Alzheimer's Month, and 21 September is World Alzheimer's Day.
Across Kerry and North Cork, our carers support families living with dementia every single day. What that looks like isn't dramatic — it's a familiar face at the same time each morning. It's knowing that a person takes their tea a certain way, that a certain song settles them, that rushing never helps.
Dementia can be isolating for the whole household, and the person doing the caring often carries it quietly. If that's you, you're not on your own.
💜 To our carers — thank you for the patience and dignity you bring to this work.
💬 If you're worried about a loved one's memory, or you're caring for someone with dementia and would like to talk it through, the Alzheimer Society of Ireland's confidential National Helpline is free on 1800 341 341, open Monday to Friday 10am–5pm and Saturday 10am–4pm.
