How do hydraulic cylinders help mobile machinery move?

Hydraulic cylinders play a key role in helping mobile machinery move, lift and operate. They convert hydraulic pressure into controlled linear movement, allowing components such as excavator arms, loader buckets and lifting mechanisms to move with force and precision.

What happens inside a hydraulic cylinder?

Inside a hydraulic cylinder, pressurised hydraulic fluid pushes against a piston, creating linear movement.

When hydraulic fluid enters one side of the cylinder, it pushes the piston along the barrel. The piston is connected to a rod, which extends or retracts and transfers that force to the machinery.
