This page is brought to you by the Waterford City Centre Business Group which was founded in March 2013. History of Waterford City Centre Business Group

City Manager Michael Walsh in a radio interview had referred to city retailers as 'a broad parish' and somewhat of a disjointed group.Up to that point there had been two retail organisations ..Waterford Chamber Retail Committee and the City Centre Retail Association. Both groups had been working together with city council under the umbrella Destination Waterford Retail Committee (DWRC) and sub committees. However although the DWRC had done great work behind the scenes little was achieved and the group ceased to meet in January 2013. On hearing the radio interview and frustrated with the disjointed state of affairs , Glenn Sheridan , a former chair of the chamber retail committee and member of DWRC, set about bringing together the current chair of the chamber retail committee Brian Tynan, the chair of the retail association Declan Conway and George Kehoe (DWRC) to see if retailers could again work together , regroup and bring the unfinished work of DWRC to fruition. It was agreed that this new group would expand to represent all businesses types in the city centre. The newly formed group was established after a meeting in Dooleys hotel on March 28th 2013 with founding members Glenn Sheridan, Declan Conway, Brian Tynan, George Kehoe, Will Lee , Tom Reddy, Tina Darrer, Eddie Mulligan, Jim Gordon & Ciaran Cullen. At the following meeting both Michael Garland & Tony Fitzgerald joined the steering committee of the newly named Waterford City Centre Business Group. WCCBG launched its briefing document & appendix penned by Michael Garland. The group started work at a tremendous pace tackling issues such as parking , shop local , social media promotion, the development of the website - waterfordcitycentre.com and working with all the stakeholders in the city centre. The group now represents over 170 local businesses and has expanded into sub committees under the steering group of Eddie Mulligan (Chair), Michael Garland (Treasurer), Glenn Sheridan (Secretary), George Kehoe, Brian Tynan, Jim Gordon & Declan Conway.

Retail & Hospitality is struggling in Waterford City Centre. We do everything we can to bring footfall to the City Centre -
Then our Waterford CEO, Sean McKeown, says
"Tourism continues to play a key role in Waterford’s economic development. The Council supports more than 70 festivals annually, helping to sustain year-round visitor activity. As a result, city centre footfall increased by 30% during summer 2025, rising from 3.75 million to 4.89 million visitors. The delivery of the Destination Experience Development Plan (DEDP), together with the ongoing work of the Waterford Rural Tourism Network, continues to strengthen tourism across the county through collaboration, connectivity and shared promotion."

Join us in The Apple Market for a night of bars, Restaurants & fun this Friday or Saturday from Mooncoin

For a Saturday night out in Waterford, the main public transport option from Mooncoin is the Bus Γ‰ireann/Expressway services that run through Mooncoin to Waterford Bus Station. The journey takes about 15–20 minutes.

Getting into Waterford

Typical evening departures from Mooncoin include:

Depart Mooncoin Arrive Waterford
18:07 18:25
21:10 21:28

These times are based on Route 355 and can vary slightly, so it's worth checking before travel.

Getting home afterwards

The last direct buses back to Mooncoin are usually around 10:29pm–10:40pm from Waterford Bus Station, arriving in Mooncoin about 10:45pm–10:55pm.

Reality for a proper night out

If you're planning to stay in Waterford city after 11pm, there is currently no late-night scheduled bus service back to Mooncoin. Your options are:

Take the last bus home around 10:30pm.
Get a taxi back to Mooncoin after the pubs close (approximately 10–15 minutes and typically €20–€30 depending on time and pickup point).
Best option

For a full Saturday night in the city:

Bus from Mooncoin to Waterford around 6pm–9pm.
Enjoy the night in the city centre.
Taxi home to Mooncoin after closing time.

If you'd like, I can also suggest the cheapest taxi companies in Waterford or a pub crawl route around the Apple Market and John Street area.

For a night out in Waterford City Centre, Tramore is one of the best-connected towns in the county to visit Restaurants, Bars, Theatre, Cinema and Festivals

Getting Into Waterford

The Bus Γ‰ireann 360 service runs between Tramore and Waterford City every 20–30 minutes throughout the day and evening, with a journey time of approximately 25–30 minutes. The bus serves Tramore Bus Station, Holy Cross, Newtown and other Tramore stops before arriving in the city centre.

The main city centre stops are:

Waterford Bus Station
The Clock Tower
Railway Square
The Mall

These are all within a few minutes' walk of the Apple Market, John Street, restaurants, pubs and live music venues.

Getting Home to Tramore

The good news is that the 360 operates late into the evening.

Recent timetables show departures from Waterford City Centre approximately every 30 minutes in the evening, with buses leaving as late as 11:30pm and midnight, arriving back in Tramore around 25–30 minutes later.

Example Evening Out

Why Tramore Works Well for Nightlife
