Yesterday, we asked Linda Kennedy why it was so important that we all support our local post office. Here's what Linda told us:
"I would like to thank all of our customers for your support since taking over Ferrybank Post Office last February.
Your support and friendship means everything to us.
I would ask you all to continue to support us going forward. There has been too many closures of Post Offices in the past few years. To keep our business viable we need customers.
If we don't have customers, then we don't get paid as the salary of a Postmaster is now transaction based. Therefore every transaction counts. So whether its paying your bills, buying a stamp, topping up your phone, investments and insurance, savings accounts or your day to day banking needs, please remember to call in.
We now do banking for both AIB and BOI customers. You can lodge and withdraw cash and lodge cheques to your account. (For cheque lodgements you will require a lodgement slip which can be ordered from your bank.)
We also cater for business customers and can lodge cash and cheques making it more convenient rather than having to find parking in town.
We also open longer hours than the banks and we open Saturdays from 9-1pm.
Our Post Office is also a community hub where often times especially for our older customers it is a chance to meet up and have the chats.
We will help out in whatever way we can and I hope, have always given our customers a pleasant experience when they call in.
Once again thank you all so much and we look forward to serving you all for many years to come, but this is only possible with the support of our locals.
I would also like to sincerely thank Karen and Aisling for their ongoing support with the running of our post office. Your help is hugely appreciated."
Attention Business Owners: If you're a local business owner and would like to thank residents for their support, give us a call on 086 2583456 and we'll organise a post for you Free Of Charge. :-)
