For the uninitiated amongst you. The meat on the left is the dirt cheap, bought in, frozen, monochrome, processed, mass produced sh*te. It’s also nearly always advertised as lamb. But in fact It’s actually mostly chicken with a tiny bit of beef, with no lamb in it whatsoever. However the one on the right is fresh, never frozen, non processed, made entirely of fresh Irish lamb and usually made fresh in house. The frozen stuff is also literally a fraction of the cost with absolutely no labour costs whatsoever. There is quite a bit of labour involved in making up the fresh meat babs, slicing, marinating and building. One of my main gripes is that the places that sell the cheap stuff, very often charge as much (sometimes more) than the places that sell the fresh meat babs. Be wary too of the places that sell chicken doner that looks more authentic than their lamb doner. That too is more than likely the dirt cheap, bought in, frozen, processed, mass produced sh*te. General rule of thumb is that if their lamb is the frozen mass produced sh*te it’s also very likely that their chicken (although it might look very authentic) is also the frozen mass processed sh*te too. The difference is night and day. You really need to try the fresh meat, it’s absolutely gorgeous! 😋
