A recent McKinsey review provides a window in to the friction around the dominant players utilizing sharing economy models. Important discussion.
But somehow, McKinsey fail to address the elephant in the room: that some in Silicon Valley are using "Sharing Halo" to monopolize communities. In this, they offer only a passing observation: "The South Korean government banned Uber to encourage the development of alternative, locally developed apps." On my latest trip to Vancouver I learned the city took a proactive approach, developing an alternative app that levels the playing field for local service providers, large and small.
