“Is it the mark or is it the marketing?” Love this TED talk about branding and how it “is not just a tool of capitalism” but “the profound manifestation of the human spirit.”

"Branding is the profound manifestation of the human spirit," says designer and podcaster Debbie Millman. In a historical odyssey that she illustrated herself, Millman traces the evolution of branding, from cave paintings to flags to beer labels and beyond. She explores the power of symbols to unite...

Some interesting insights in this “SaaS content marketing guide” (though equally relevant to non-SaaS folks). For example, what do you think of this one -- repurposing content as an answer on Quora or Reddit Answers?

Very surprising! Check out this infographic on a 2020 B2B marketers survey – email and search drive the highest ROI on lead gen (with social and influencer marketing far behind), articles and blog posts outperform customer testimonials and research reports for driving leads through the funnel (?!), and social content that links to website content outperforms links to blog posts and surveys (?!). Hmmm . . . Does this align with what you're seeing too?

Want to know “How to Blow a Presentation to the C-Suite”? Then check out this HBR article. Presenting to the c-suite is very much like selling to a prospect and creating an effective marketing asset. It’s all about the flow of the story. The article's author states, and I wholeheartedly agree, that it should always start with the problem (“Trap #1”). “It’s the problem, not the idea, that executives want to hear first. Spend the first quarter of your allotted time calling out the problem and the next quarter on the idea.” If there isn’t a problem, why should anyone be interested in the solution? Whether it's a c-suite preso, customer preso, blog post, or infographic -- it's problem first, then how we solve it, how we’re different at solving it than others (the competition), the benefits (relating to “Trap #2” in the article), and (accurate) proof points (relating to Trap #4). I couldn’t agree more. Thoughts?

Four common ways we undermine our hard work.
