Some words about adaptation
Our final meeting in the RU IT in TLV community in 2022 was simultaneously similar and different to other meetings.

This meeting was warm and homely - familiar faces, warm December, darkness outside the window, interesting topics, new acquaintances- quite a homely atmosphere.

The presentations were so impressive, that Raf asked to recall and share phrases remembered from Alexander Laryanovsky's presentation about adaptation in a new country and a new life.
I am happy to share a few of them with you:
Adaptation is, of course, not about soft skills, but about character
The problem is that in the countries of our exodus, hard skills are valued much more than soft skills
The effectiveness of education is evaluated by hardskills.
A husband and wife who have lived under the same roof for 20 years will adapt at different speeds
If you think you have adapted, please think again
Everyone has their own way of adaptation, there are no recipes, so you have to go your own way
Ask yourself the question - Am I ready for everything that happens around me to become the normal life for me?
How long are you ready to live in the mode of patience and the feeling that you don't have a home
Adaptation is the ability to find significant differences and respond adequately to them
The theme of adaptation is endless, every word, every phrase is exactly on target, in every example you see yourself, you remember every day of a new life. And you go ahead and help others to go.

The mission for the Python Engineer is together with the DevOps team maintain and improve the current cloud infrastructure to enable product teams build, improve and serve their products and services to carriers and shippers in the Vehicle Transportation Industry of the United States without any downtime or quality degradation.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Improve GCP infrastructure by finding weak points and reducing them, introducing, and implementing new tools and practices to proactively prepare the infrastructure for the future growth of the company.
• Work closely with other engineers and product teams to figure out and deliver innovative solutions that will drive your team's key metric.
• Own the technical part of Platform-Led initiatives.
• Document, develop, refactor, deploy, and operate APIs, customer-facing and/or internal components/interfaces that serve product teams as well as customers.
• Communicate with QA and Support to investigate and fix bugs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• You have at least 3+ years of professional coding experience in general, at least 1 year of which is experience working in platform/component teams.
• You are fluent in at least one scripting language, preferably Python (and its frameworks, such as Django, Flask, Starlette, etc.) and willing to build and maintain services in different Python web frameworks.
• You have a hands-on experience building on cloud platforms like GCP / AWS.
• You have a hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
• You have a hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• You have experience with relational databases.
• You have an understanding of Systems Design.
• You care about quality, and you know what it means to ship high-quality code.
• You are familiar and have experience with good engineering practices.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of 5-10 direct reports (engineers and team leads), as well as growing the existing products. In this role, you'll be working closely with colleagues across Growth, Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Product, Design, Sales, and Marketing to bring your ideas to life.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead and build a team of data scientist to deep dive into the data and answer complex business questions.

· Explore and extract insights from massive dataset of geospatial, behavioural, economic, and the extraction of 3rd party data, to power a credit scoring model that can make financing decisions instantly, accurately and in fairness to the end user.

· Leveraging data to help the business answer questions around further expansion, products, user acquisition/retention/churn and any other business goals that can be addressed through data insights.

· Build, validate, test, and deploy machine learning or other data science models to predict and influence the behaviour of consumers with the goal of optimizing system efficiency of the platform.

· Develop a deep behavioural understanding and intuition of users and translate these intuitions into actionable, creative insights that produces heuristic or classification models to identify system violators.

· Manage and own the entire end-to-end lifecycle of designing models, working with Engineering for implementation, scaling, to maintenance and enforcement.

· Work independently or in a team to solve complex problem statements.

· Test and validate these insights via rapid experimentation and deployment.

· Interface with business & operation teams to formulate solutions & product changes informed by your findings.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

· Experience in leading a team of data scientists, preferably in a startup or tech company

· PhD/Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operation Research, Computer Science or equivalent

· 8+ years relevant industry experience (preferably in an Internet or ‘Direct to Consumer’ company with high velocity data and scaled controlled experiments)

· Strong statistical knowledge - ideally having utilized controlled experiments in the industry

· Experience solving prediction, classification, reinforcement problems using applied statistics & machine learning

· Experience with Data Science / scripting / programming tools, including but not limited to Python, R or SQL

· Experience in Spark (Scala / pySpark) would be a plus

· Strong Product sense

· Self-Starter. Ability to work independently and drive own projects.
