I want to share. I have to work a lot with Judaica items. Naturally, I'm constantly discovering something new for myself. For example, one of my projects for the past year has been a collection of atarot. Atara is like a "collar" for a large tallit, which is attached to one of its longitudinal sides, it distinguishes the upper and outer side of the tallit from the lower and inner side. Sometime on a Shabbat evening, take a look at the religious Jews rushing to the synagogue)))

The majority of these atarot are created in the technique of spanier arbeit (in fact, this is the same as lace weaving on bobbins), where various types of silver threads are used. Unfortunately, often the damages are incredible: tears, oxidations, numerous losses, and deformations. One and a half centuries, after all.

There are thirty items in the collection, and only now, after a year of work, the end of this project is visible, which initially seemed endless. Here's one example of an atara "before" and "after".

My work at Yad Vashem Museum is filled with fascinating research and restoration of textile artifacts related to historical events such as Jewish history, the Holocaust, and World War II. Prior to this, I accumulated extensive experience working with archives and museum collections, as well as conducting art expertise in St. Petersburg.
