India is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s most dynamic AgriTech ecosystems.
In just a decade, the country has built a fast-growing industry supported by government initiatives, major corporations, financial institutions, and global technology companies.

Today, thousands of AgriTech startups operate across India, with approximately $3 billion invested over the past decade and significant additional growth expected in the years ahead. Alongside digital agriculture solutions, India is also seeing growing adoption of DeepTech, biotech, and advanced sustainability technologies.

One of the key challenges — and opportunities — is bridging the gap between technological innovation and the real needs of farmers and rural communities, with the goal of improving agricultural productivity and strengthening the rural economy.

Pune, India gears up for the second edition of the International Agri Hackathon.

The initiative is being led by Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi, who described the hackathon as an important step toward bringing technology closer to farmers and accelerating agricultural innovation across India.

The Pune Agri Hackathon is one of the largest platforms bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, academia, industry leaders, and government stakeholders to create meaningful dialogue and advance the future of agriculture.

Proud to see Green Road alongside InnoQbate and our amazing partners — the Department of Agriculture, Maharashtra State, Collector Office Pune, Bombay Chamber of Commerce, and MPKV College of Agriculture Pune — driving this important initiative forward.

This is only the beginning of many exciting developments in Indo-Israeli collaboration. Stay tuned!

🌾🇮🇳🤝 **Not Only Modi** 🤝🇮🇱🌾

Successful collaboration between India and Israel is not only about leadership at the national level. It is about people. It is about mindset. And most importantly — it is about listening.

When we acknowledge that cultural and stylistic differences exist between India and Israel — in communication, pace, decision-making, and ways of viewing reality — it becomes much easier to build meaningful bilateral partnerships. The potential for cooperation between Indians and Israelis is enormous. The basic approach between our peoples is positive and open. It would be a missed opportunity not to fully realize this potential due to impatience or intolerance toward cultural differences.

Last week, we had the privilege of hosting a delegation from India that wished to experience firsthand how agricultural technologies are integrated into everyday farming practices in Israel. Together, we visited **FERTILIZERS RESEARCH** laboratories as well as “A.M. Tavlinim Tkuma,” a unique agricultural partnership uniting the farmers of Mishmar HaNegev and Kibbutz Beit K**a.

Visits like these allow us to build direct and authentic relationships with our Indian colleagues — deepening trust, strengthening understanding, and developing real opportunities for long-term cooperation.

Step by step, bridges are built — between people, between fields, and between nations.

To be continued. 🌱

🇮🇳🦐 Aqua India | Shrimp as a Case Study for the Future of Aquaculture

The shrimp sector is increasingly serving as a case study for the aquaculture industry as a whole — combining rapid scale, export orientation, strict international standards, and growing pressure around sustainability, biosecurity and transparency.

Participating in Aqua India, a local, production-oriented industry conference, offered a very grounded and practical view of how these challenges are being addressed on the ground in India.

Key figures presented at the conference highlight India’s expanding global position:

🔹 Global shrimp market projected to reach USD 40 billion by 2034
🔹 India’s global share expected to grow from 20% to 25%
🔹 Estimated export potential of USD 10 billion
🔹 Strategic goal: building “Brand India Shrimp”
🔹 Core requirements: Quality, Sustainability, Traceability and Value Addition

What makes this particularly compelling is the broader context:
India — despite having one of the highest vegetarian populations in the world — has become a shrimp export superpower, with production almost entirely aimed at international markets. As a result, competitiveness is defined by global benchmarks, not local consumption patterns.

The recurring challenges emphasized across the conference were clear: ▪ Disease prevention and biosecurity
▪ Reducing reliance on antibiotics
▪ End-to-end farm-to-fork traceability
▪ Integration of smart technologies across the value chain

This is precisely where the opportunity emerges for Israeli companies 🇮🇱

Israel’s strengths in aquaculture innovation, water and health monitoring, biotech solutions, non-antibiotic disease prevention, data analytics, AI, sensors and traceability platforms align directly with the sector’s most urgent needs.

The Indian shrimp industry is no longer only about increasing output —
it is about building resilience, credibility and long-term value.

Green Road Innovation works alongside Israeli companies, providing professional guidance, local insight and hands-on support for successful market entry, partnerships and long-term establishment in India.

# # # **Should agricultural exhibitions take place in major urban centers — or closer to the fields themselves?**

This year, it seems the momentum is shifting toward *Ofakim*, in the Tecoma Region, where the **Mashov Agricultural Exhibition** will take place.
After many years in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, bringing the exhibition back to Ofakim feels like a true full-circle moment.

Mashov actually began as a small local newspaper in Ofakim. Over time, its distribution expanded to nearby kibbutzim and moshavim, and the content naturally became more agriculture-focused. These were the days of the legendary *“HaSadeh”* magazine and the growers’ bulletins — a period when Mashov dared to challenge the traditional establishment and introduce something fresh and bold.

A few years later, Mashov took that bold spirit and transformed it into a full agricultural exhibition — one that has now been running for decades.
I still remember the very first year, in Kibbutz Gal-On (pictured). It was a brave move that stood in contrast to the mainstream AgriTech exhibitions of the time. Since then, a lot of water has passed through the irrigation pipes — and next week, the exhibition returns, with strong anticipation from many friends and partners in the sector.

For me, this is also a personal milestone. Nearly a decade ago, I placed a short three-page policy paper on the desk of Mayor Itzik Danino, proposing a clear vision:
**Position Ofakim as Israel’s “Agricultural Capital.”**
This meant investing in agricultural education, developing services for farmers, allocating industrial land for ag-industry, and building a true agricultural ecosystem.

Ofakim embraced the idea — and in recent years, we’ve seen the fruits begin to ripen.
It’s exciting to witness, and deeply satisfying.
