Since I have a vested interest... All travelers returning from red and orange countries will have to quarantine for the full quarantine period as of July 16, 2021. Travelers returning from other countries will need to quarantine for up to 24 hours, pending the results of a PCR Covid test. The above applies regardless of vaccination/recovry status.

Ministry of Health Announcement:

The Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Hezi Levi, has finalized the MoH's position, together with the approval of the Minister of Health, regarding expanding vaccinations to adolescents between the ages of 12-16.

A meeting of the Pandemic Response Team (PRT) and the Vaccine Monitoring Committee was held last night, headed by the MoH's Dir. Gen., Prof. Hezi Levi, together with Covid Czar Prof. Nahman Ashe, Dr. Boaz Lev - PRT Director, representatives of the Association of Pediatricians in Israel, and experts on vaccination and epidemiology.

A long discussion was held, during which the various professionals and experts reviewed the multidisciplinary study discussing possible complications from expanding vaccinations, including myocarditis.
IT should be noted that pursuant to the details provided yesterday, the risks stemming from Covid are higher than those stemming from receiving the vaccine. Even those cases of myocarditis observed in recipients age 16-19 were few in number and in most cases, resolved without complications.
With that, in light of the fact that Covid morbidity in Israel is very low, it was decided to recommend vaccinating high-risk groups as soon as possible, including adolescents with a high risk of severe Covid, those living with high-risk family members, as well as families expecting to travel overseas.
In addition to these high-risk groups, it shall be possible to vaccinate anyone wishing to do so.
The vaccine is safe and effective.
The Dir. Gen. of the MoH is currently holding logistical preparation discussions with the various health funds to vaccinate adolescents.
Vaccinations for adolescents are expected to commence next week through the health funds.

The MoH will continue to provide updates as necessary.

Israel Covid-19 visa update: for all those who have visas that will expire from January 10th onwards, the Ministry of Interior will extend them automatically (without a need to come to the ministry's branches), until 30.3.2021. This update is relevant only to the following visa types: A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, B1, B4.

Breaking Israel News for Persons Returning from Overseas:

As of this afternoon, returnees must quarantine in a State quarantine facility but may quarantine at home or other location if ALL of the following are met:
1) They take a PCR nCov test at the airport or, if they're in a State quarantine facility, prior to switching to a different quarantine location;
2) They've fulfilled the requirements of Section 22B(A) of the Special Powers for Dealing With the Novel Coronavirus Act (Temporary Provision), 2020, prior to changing quarantine locations;
3) They've committed in writing, prior to going to a different quarantine location, to take an additional PCR test for nCov on the 9th day of quarantine, and take such test;
4) A returnee who has been tested as set forth in paragraph 3 after the ninth day of quarantine may continue to quarantine in the different location as of the date of such test.

Israel Covid Rules News:
New legislation on canceled events!
This is a subject that has led to SEVERAL questions. The Knesset has passed a law regarding the cancellation of events because of Covid lockdowns. The bad news - it only takes effect on January 1, 2021...
The new law says in the event of a cancellation because of a lockdown or other restrictions, a venue must negotiate a new date with you in good faith and if the second date is similarly canceled, it must refund your full deposit other than "special expenses" incurred as the result of the contract (those are defined in the law).
If you choose NOT to negotiate a new date, the hall must refund your money and may take a penalty equalling the lesser of NIS 3,000 or 5% of the total event cost agreed.
If the venue chooses not to pick a new date OR does not negotiate a new date in good faith, they must refund your deposit and may be subject to statutory damages of up to NIS 10,000 as well.

As of December 15, 2020, people required to quarantine will have the option of shortening their quarantine from 14 to 10 days, subject to two negative PCR tests for the novel coronavirus.
