Middle East Business Forum

Middle East Business Forum MEBF provides a forum for Tel Aviv University business students, alumni and others to promote and develop Middle East business and commerce.

The Middle East Business Forum is where Tel Aviv University Business School students, alumni and staff discuss and collaborate in the field of regional business and commerce. The Forum was founded in 2016 by Jowan Qupty and Jesse Divon - both students at the school. During their studies, Qupty and Divon noticed that both Israeli, Palestinian and international students invariably overlook Middle Ea

st business opportunities as they concentrate on familiar markets in West and, increasingly, the Far East. The Forum responds to this by providing a hub at Tel Aviv University Business School for raising awareness, sharing ideas and facilitating networking in the field of Middle East business and commerce. What we do

CONNECT: Provide an active forum on social media to facilitate connections
LEARN: Panel discussions with leading business figures on topics relating to Middle East regional business
EXPERIENCE: Visits to companies engaged in regional economic cooperation
CREATE: Annual competition article-writing competition among students and alumni to write an article on Mid East business

The Middle East Business Forum (MEBF) at Coller School of Management held another successful event on Tuesday 18 July, hosting a delegation of students from Associazione Diplomatici, an Italian organization that offers training in diplomacy, international economic relations and other fields.

Around 40 visiting and Coller students heard from guest lecturer Prof U*i Rabi on “Israel and the Middle East: changing equations” and then from MEBF co-founder Jesse Divon about Israeli-Palestinian private sector collaboration, particularly in the field of high-tech. Participants then gathered for refreshments and networking.

On 22 January 2017 the Middle East Business Forum held its inaugural event at Coller School of Management.

The event opened with introductions from MEBF founders Jowan Qupty and Jesse Divon, followed by supporting remarks from Faculty Dean Prof Moshe Zviran.

Attendees then heard from guest speaker Yadin Kaufmann, a leading tech investor and entrepreneur, who told the story of Sadara Ventures, the first venture capital fund targeting the Palestinian high-tech sector that he co-founded in 2011. (Kaufmann has also founded Israeli VC fund Veritas and non-profits including Israeli social impact fund Tmura and the Palestinian Internship Program, a provider of internships for top Palestinian graduates in the Israeli high-tech sector.)

A packed lecture hall keenly listened to Kaufmann's insights into Palestinian high-tech development as well as its wider impact on the Palestinian economy and living standards.

Following the event, attendees gathered for refreshments and networking.
