There is an ancient Chinese curse, much quoted these days, which says: "May you live in interesting times".
Well, I assume we can all agree that this year has not been a boring one: a global pandemic, raging wildfires, rocket attacks, travel bans... the only thing we haven't had here (yet) is perhaps a zombie attack on a grand scale.
However, if they do come eventually, it would be responsible to assume that even zombies love chocolate.
That's why we decided that tradition must be kept, now more than ever, by launching our traditional annual amazing Cardinal Chocolaterie קרדינל שוקולטרי chocolate deliveries to more than 200 clients, as a token of appreciation for our work together.

So why should you translate your privacy statement to different languages?
Generally speaking, because this is what it takes to be fully GDPR-compliant.

In order to meet the requirement of transparency, the GDPR requires that you inform your users about the ways you process their data using "clear and plain language".
But how can this demand be complied with when your users speak different languages?

The EU supervisory authorities made their position on this issue very clear.

In their interpretation of the GDPR, the authorities determined that in such a case, privacy statements should be translated so that data subjects could understand how their data is being processed (see below the guidelines issued by WP29 and later by the EDPB).

In addition to the risk of being made an example of by EU authorities for failing to comply with this requirement, users nowadays are getting more and more aware of their rights, and place their trust in companies who are willing to invest in transparency and other compliant practices.

Localization of legal terms and privacy statements is becoming both an industry benchmark and an obvious ‘tell’ as to how seriously a company takes its privacy compliance duties. Don’t let your company find itself on the wrong side of the benchmark.

We're looking for an English to Norwegian content translator / writer / QA to handle marketing and product contents for a major Tel-Aviv based hi-tech company.

The scope of work is estimated at about 4-5 work hours per day for a minimum duration of 1-2 months, perhaps even longer.

Training will be provided by the company’s staff.

Since availability and responsiveness are fundamental, the candidate should (preferably) be able to work from the company’s Tel-Aviv offices during work hours (“in-house”) and therefore he or she should optimally reside in or around Tel-Aviv; however, the remote work option – namely, “work from home” or from abroad - might also be a valid option.

Naturally, Norwegian as mother tongue + English at an excellent level are basic requirements for this position. Previous experience in content translation/copy would be highly relevant.

It's this time of year.
An old Aztec tradition associated Cacao with the god Quetzacoatl. The Aztecs believed this god was condemned by the other gods to share chocolate with humans.
We, on the other hand, don't mind sharing chocolates with other humans.
This year, in what has become our little annual holiday tradition, some 200 clients received Cardinal Chocolaterie קרדינל שוקולטרי's amazing Giandujas..

We wish everyone Shana Tova and a happy new Jewish year!

Despite constant developments in Machine Translation tools, it seems that a good old-fashioned "human-in-the-loop" QA is still essential to reach professional results. Hizbollah's new psychological warfare ad-campaign is yet another typical example of an organization that obviously invests significant efforts in branding, copywriting and cute graphics, only to then spoil the effectiveness of its own message by neglecting a proper proofreading. SO SAD!

We are looking for Israeli-based translators from English to Spanish, French and German to take part in a project with one of our major clients:
- The project consists of online translation of English web content and website templates from English to the relevant target language. Therefore, no industry-specific knowledge is required (however, target language as a mother-tongue is required);
- Since part of the work will be performed through the client's online editor, basic computer skills and orientation are also required;
- This project will require the availability of about 750 -1000 work hours (estimated) per translator during the next few weeks/months;
- Work could be done from home; HOWEVER - each translator will be required to (physically) attend a short training course at the client's hub in Tel Aviv (1 or 2 days -TBD).

Please send your CVs and contact details to [email protected] - please state "online translation" at the subject line. Please also send any questions you might have and requests for more information.
