The Israel Film Fund, headed by my good friend the talented Dr. Noa Regev, will be holding "FIRST LOOK", its showcase of new films in Manhattan's Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, on June 10th, at 4pm.
The event will feature an intimate showcase of three upcoming Israeli films exploring questions of identity, conflict, belonging, and human connection. Reflecting the cultural tensions and complexities of our time, these films continue the tradition of bold, innovative, and deeply personal Israeli cinema.
These are the new projects that will be presented: (attached the formal invitation)
Title: STUNNING!
Two best friends. One is the bride. One is the problem. When Elka's brilliant best friend is about to make the mistake-of-her-life, the most loving act she can think of is to sabotage the wedding preparations and undermine the bride's determination to marry a half-baked boring man.
Title: You Are My Everything
How far will a mother go to keep her son from war? An anxious Israeli mother flees with her two sons to a ski town in Armenia, just days before her eldest is drafted into an elite commando unit. There, she crosses paths with a Russian mother facing the same fate with her own son – a chance encounter that turns a family getaway into a darkly comic reflection on mothers, sons, and the wars that claim them.
Title: Now More Than Ever
When Harry Met Sally meets the modern Jewish identity crisis. After a clash over campus antisemitism, Miriam, a brilliant Columbia PhD candidate, is suspended. Her only shot at salvaging her academic future is to join a high-stakes U.S. advocacy tour as a chaperone, assigned to Ori, an injured Israeli officer turned “poster boy,” representing a world she has tried to keep at a distance, yet continues to haunt her. As they dodge hostile protests, endure disastrous galas, and bond over late-night junk food, their carefully built defenses begin to crack- sparking an undeniable romance. A film for anyone whose identity was up for public debate and who still dared to fall in love.
