פנינה בלייר, נשיאת הכבוד של פסטיבל הסרטים הבינלאומי חיפה ומי שכיהנה 33 שנים כמנהלת האמנותית של הפסטיבל הלכה לעולמה
אתו"ס, פסטיבל הסרטים הבינלאומי חיפה וסינמטק חיפה מרכינים ראש עם פטירתה של פנינה בלייר ומוסרים תנחומים למשפחתה.
פנינה הפכה את סינמטק חיפה למוסד קולנועי מוביל בישראל ואת פסטיבל הסרטים הבינלאומי חיפה לאחד מפסטיבלי הקולנוע המוערכים בעולם.
במהלך 33 שנות כהונתה כמנהלת האומנותית של הפסטיבל, הפליאה פנינה לעשות ולבטא את אהבתה לאומנות הקולנוע, דרך עיצוב התכנית האמנותית של הפסטיבל, תמיכה וקידום של יצירה קולנועית ישראלית ויצירת קשרים ענפים עם תעשיית הקולנוע הבינלאומית.
תחת הנהגתה הפסטיבל גיבש את זהותו כאירוע תרבותי המקדם לא רק מצוינות קולנועית אלא גם ערכים של אהבת אדם, סקרנות, סובלנות וחתירה לשלום. ערכים המשקפים גם את אופייה של העיר חיפה.
פסטיבל הסרטים הבינלאומי חיפה כמפעל חייה של פנינה, הפך להיות אירוע הקולנוע הגדול בישראל, רבבות צופים מכל רחבי הארץ גודשים את אולמות הקולנוע בתקופת הפסטיבל ונחשפים למיטב היצירה הקולנועית בארץ ובעולם.
לכתה של פנינה היא אבדה גדולה לפסטיבל, נעשה הכל כדי לשמור, לחזק ולפתח את מורשתה ומפעל חייה.

With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Pnina Blayer, the honorary president of Haifa International Film Festival and former Artistic director for 33 years. Ethos, Haifa International Film Festival and Haifa Cinematheque mourn her loss and send heartfelt condolences to her family. Under Pnina's leadership, Haifa Cinematheque has turned into a leading Israeli film institute, and Haifa International Film Festival has become one of the most renowned and esteemed film festivals in the world. Over the course of her 33 year tenure as the festival's artistic director, Pnina expressed her love for filmmaking and the art of cinema through the creative process of curating festival's artistic programs, and the support and promotion of Israeli cinema, building an extensive net of connections with the international film industry. Pnina gave the festival its spirit and identity as a cultural institution that promotes the pursuit of peace, compassion, curiosity, and tolerance in addition to its artistic brilliance. The Haifa International film Festival team shall make every effort to uphold, enhance, and maintain Pnina's legacy and her life's work. May her memory be blessed
