Taxes aren't due once a year. They're due four times.
If your tax liability after TDS/TCS crosses ₹10,000, the law doesn't wait for you to file — it expects you to pay as you earn, in instalments through the year.
✅ Who pays: Individuals, firms, LLPs, companies — anyone crossing ₹10,000. Resident senior citizens with no business income are exempt
✅ The schedule: 15% by 15 June, 45% by 15 September, 75% by 15 December, 100% by 15 March — each a running total, not a fresh 25%
✅ The cost of waiting: 1% a month, two ways to earn it — Section 424 (paid less than 90% by year-end) and Section 425 (missed even one instalment), both under the Income Tax Act, 2025
✅ The exception: Filing under Section 44AD or 44ADA? One instalment, 100% by 15 March — no quarterly schedule to track
Same rules that governed 234B and 234C — just living under new numbers now.
Let's keep your instalments on track, and the interest off your books.
