Remedial action for ongoing Heat Wave in India
MS University , Baroda researchers measured the temperature of building materials
Afternoon temperature of sand, brick, cement , Increases up to 20 degrees outside
As the materials used in construction like sand, gravel, brick, cement, sheets absorb more heat, heated houses do not cool down quickly.
The ongoing heat wave in the country is becoming a disaster for the people. It is hot in the afternoon, but even after the sunset in the evening, people are feeling like a hot furnace.
One of the reasons behind this is the different materials used for construction, Which has less ability to insulate . Study was conducted by team of Students & Faculties from MS UNIVERSITY , Baroda testing bricks, plastered bricks etc in open air in the months of November and December to observe temperature round the clock. . The team concluded after the tests that,
When the mercury was highest in the afternoon, the temperature of all these materials was recorded as 10 to 15 degrees higher than the outside temperature, the highest temperature was also observed in plastered brick.
For example, on December 1 at two o'clock in the afternoon, when the outside temperature was 29.4 degrees, the temperature of the plastered brick showed 49.06 degrees on the thermometer. In this way the experiment was done on all the materials simultaneously. Devices like pyrenometer, albedo software, sensor with PT-100 needle were used for this experiment.
According to the researchers, this experiment was done in winter. In the current heat wave, when the temperature is going up to 42 to 45 degrees, the temperature of the building material will naturally be above 50 degrees and even up to a maximum of 60 degrees, and that is why there are many complaints of not feeling cooling for 20 to 25 minutes after turning on the AC in the current heat wave.
In various construction applications, Lightweight Concrete provide a flexible and efficient way to achieve thermal insulation besides waterproofing . Select the ideal products for your project and obtain the required results by knowing the available materials and their features.
LITAGG can assist you in improving the performance of your building structures, regardless of whether you're building a cool roof, including over-deck insulation, insulating the roof, utilizing a roof screed, or using lightweight aggregates or lightweight concrete .
