Bringing mineral exploration closer to the classroom.

On 11 September 2026, Supriya Das, MAusIMM(CP), CEO of Sakariya Mines & Minerals, delivered a session on “Insights on Mineral Exploration: Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Industry” at Presidency University, Kolkata.

The discussion focused on how geological understanding, target selection, field experience and disciplined decision-making come together across the mineral exploration process.

What made the session especially valuable was the engagement from students and researchers—their questions continued well beyond the presentation and led to meaningful conversations about exploration practice and careers in geoscience.

We thank the GEO-SCIENCE SOCIETY and the GEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE, Kolkata, for organising the session and creating this opportunity for academic-industry interaction.
